On the face, this is a good idea, and it is a fun template, it's the one I use personally.
However you are assuming that the current pool specialization paradigm will stick
Health = Fencer/Pistoleer
Action = Pikeman/Carbineer
Mind = Swords/Rifles
However with the ascendance of the Heath bar as the only one to take wounds/damage I doubt that we're going to have weapons that target pools anymore.
Also, Pistols can only go up from their current state. I'm really lloking forwardto it.

well im having to chose from a ranged prof, cuz they are making the skill points for the melee profs too high to go with CM

Pistols would be the most suitable when the melee profs close the range on you...

Yes... unless they reduce the skill points requisites for Combat Medic. And then it will be a problem, Combat Medics will be even more locked into a ranged template than today.
But then again, I think there will be a downwards adjustment to the Skill Points required to master Combat Medic.

We have been promised the option of respeccing when the CU hits. So you should try out whatever you like right now and respec later, at least that is what I think.

Yep. Do whatever you want now, play any template you find fun. With the CU you'll get a shot at respeccing you template to whatever you see fit. And, by that time, you'll have enough info to know what template you'll want to respec to.

From what they have posted here is what I interpret
You can respec your character FOR FREE with NO GRINDING just as though you were using a BLUE FROG as long as you meet certain requirements
1) you may only trade in skill points that you have spent
- i.e. you cannot make a toon on another server on May 4th and then make it a super leet mega master on May 5th
2) Skill points traded in must have been spent on CU effected professions and may only be spent on CU effected professions
- i.e. Those points you have in Master Droid Engineer, you may not respec them into points for Architecht (as neither is a combat profession); respect the MDE points into Brawler (MDE not a combat porf); or respec Master Brawler into Master Artisan (artisan is not a combat prof).
3) You may not change, drop or gain FS (village) skills in the CU respec
-i.e. the CU will not make you a Jedi, but it might make you a ninja.
4) It is unclear at this time whether Jedi will get a respec, originally the word was no.
5) I am assuming that pilot does nto fit the respect as Pilot is uneffected by the CU and doesn't cost any SP.

From what the Devs have posted that's the general idea. Although the final details haven't been released and things can change it's safe to assume that you will be able to do a one-time transfer of skill points easilly between any of the combat professions.
If it were up to me I would allow a complete respec of any profession. I know not everyone would agree with this but that is what I feel would be the correct thing to do.
