Thread: I have 18 skill credits left, what would you advise?

I am a master Rifleman / Doctor and i've decided i'm going to put my remaining 18 skill points into combat medic. This will only allow me to go up one tree in combat med up to 3 boxes.

I was thinking Expert Combat medic support that will give me +30 to terrain negotation, and will increase my combat med usage.

But I would love to apply poisons, what skill would I need to apply a poison? Thanks!

Doh, I just read that I get apply poison at novice combat medic. What can I do to make that poison the most effective I possibly can with only 3 skill boxes? I really don't care about healing effectiveness because I have master doctor for that. So i'm really only concerned with applying poison.

Will I be able to apply decent poison with only 3 skills though?

Well hmm, I suppose I could drop master doctor because the ONLY reason I have doctor is for buffing purposes. I could get away with not master and still buff good couldn't it?

It sucks how someone can have master doc and master rifleman and still have 18 points left over, but a master rifleman master CM gets just 4 points, which means FS skills only.

Edited to remove misinformation.

The problem with your plan as you state it is that combat medic requires the marksman ranged support tree. So you can't even pick up novice CM if you are at master doc/master rifles.

However, if you are willing to give up master doctor, you can make some reasonable CM/Doc/Rifle.

Doc x44x will buff at 90% power of a master doc (given both are using +25 bivoli, +25 BE clothing and a 110 rated med droid).
From what I read in the CM forums, CM use is the line to go first (to be able to use the better poisons), so that would be master rifles / doc 0440 / cm 0004. You can use the remaining points either in doc to get more healing abilities or in CM to get the tick power of your poisons up.

Doh, i'm an idiot I didn't notice that I needed marksman skills lol. I will seriously consider giving up master doctor if you're sure i'll only use 10% effectiveness in my buffs? As long as i'm buffing for 2k i'm happy.

Buff formula is:
[(skill + bivoli + clothing) / 100] * (droid rating / 100) * (medical city) * buff power pack face value.

medical city is 1.1 if you are in one, 1.0 otherwise.

skill for master doc is 200, skill for x44x is 175.

So with +25 bivoli and +25 BE clothing and all other things equal, the first part of the formula:

for master: (200 + 25 + 25) / 100 = 2.5
for x44x: (175 + 25 + 25) / 100 = 2.25

and 2.25 / 2.5 is 90%. The number gets worse if you dont use +25 bivoli and +25 BE clothing, though.

I think you will not be happy giving up all dot cures too though? I think if you are supporting people, then 4040 doc is better because you can cure poison, fire, and disease....death and buffing can be handled by other people not actively adventuring with you..... I'd either stick with at least 4440 doc and dabble something other than CM or go 4004 rifle and dabble both CM and doc to where they are more effective builds.

I always pretty much solo though so I dont really need the cure poisons and disease. We'll see. For now i'll stay a master doctor. Theres really no reason I need the poison right now as I don't pvp. Would mind poison be pretty good on krayts or night sisters?

IF you are doing targeting mind pool attacks, then that is great, otherwise I would use health poisons for PVE, especially if grouping with non-rifle/swordsmen that can't target the mind. Disease also helps a lot on Krayts.

You are right, for solo play CM is not optimal.
