Hi,
Master Doctor here, about to pick up Master Combat Medic. The question I have is about the selection of stims.
I have no idea what the heal numbers on a Ranged E looks like but I imagine they can't be too far off from an equilivent Small Stim E. So my quesion is, if I want to heal myself of x damage and I have a Small Stim E and a Ranged E pack, is it going to pull the heal from the ranged pack the non ranged pack, or whichever one the AI decides? Also when trying to heal someone, if they are inside of 6m (the non ranged heal limit) is it going to use a ranged pack or non ranged pack?

Put them on your hotbar.
The game will choose, but not always correctly.
I tried that route, and I ended up tossing area Stims on myself.
Easier to use the hotbar.

I currently use very good, non-advanced component small stim D's, and very good, advanced component area stim C's. In my experience, if I can use a small stim D, the system always uses that first. Only if I can not use a small stim D (out of range or out of stims) will the system use an area stim.
However, I have not done any formal testing of this.

I've had the same experience. It uses small stims, then ranged stims, then area stims.

I like to keep it simple. I keep small stims in my inventory for healing myself and individuals close up, and the strongest kind of area stim for one or more ranged targets.
Otherwise, you'll find your inventory filling up VERY quickly with all the cure state, buff, poison, disease, and stim packs you're trying to carry around.
