There are no formulas for DOT weapons. It does exactly the damage it states. This one would hit for 215 to the health, and would last 36 seconds (3 ticks). You were pretty correct in your assesment.

Potency is your chance to land a DOT. SO like 74%, you have a chance to land it 3 out of 4 shots or so.

I out on a nice relaxing rancor hunt last, and i came across a beast, that had seemed to have gotten the better end of the stick against a not-so-lucky Pistoleer, i took the beast down and to my surprise i suddenly stumbled across that Pistoleer's weapon. To my utter amazement it had a DOT which seems pretty decent. I am just curious what exactly the Stats on the DOT mean.
Type: Health Poison
Duration: 36s
Strength: 215
Potency: 74%
Uses: 3267
Now from what i can tell when you shoot a target they have a 74% chance of getting their health pool poisoned for 36s (3 ticks) with a strength of 215, (whatever that means), and you can do that 3267 times. Likely i am completely wrong, i searched for the boards, and all i could find was how to calculate ticks for poisons used by CM's based on their skills. I was also have some trouble figuring out which forum to drop this in, this one seemed logical as most of toxologist's likely browse here.
