I just recently obtained Novice CM. I am currently a master CH and wondering how I should spend my remaining points. I calculated that I would be able to complete 2 columns and have 4 pts left over for a marksman skill or two. What would be your suggestion on how which columns to do?

Welcome to the CM community.
Personally, I would train CM support first as it givesyou the abilityto use stronger medicines. The second column depends on your character concept/situation.
1) Can you find a supplier for your CM goods? If not, you may be forced to go up the Crafting tree just to use the stronger medicines.
2) Do you perfer large slow heals, or small fast heals? If you're using a creature that runs all over the place while tanking, you might want to go up the effectiveness line as it increases the range of your stims.
Just my 2 creds

After months and months of dying I have decided if you can't beat them join them, so I've gone for CM so I can get in on the DOT action. Just want to know if there are any hints or tips anyone has in regard to crafting my own stuff for CM?

Psionic re-did the FAQ stickied at the top of these forums. Lotsa great stuff in there. Always use advanced components. Start gathering your resources yesterday.

I hope your rich, you can prob buy most of the resources you need but they will cost ya. Get your guildies to help, my guys and gals drop lots of extractors for me and are always on the look out for cm stuff, I gave them all a resource list. And of course they go kill a certain spider from time to time
