Thread: Do you need to master to be effective in pvp?

on the live servers you can find a CM shop tucked away somewhere, so if you went with the 4-0-0-4 training you would be able to use poisons experimentedunder the 75 combat medicine use requirement. If you also wanted /mindheal when it hits live you would need 4-4-0-4. However there is a change that might make it to live which would not allow any dot, including the CM poisons, to incap a player. I just wanted to warn you before you put too much effort into building your CM

you wont be able to use the Area C poisons/diseases, which are the real killer in PvP
you can use the single target C's though

You really need to be a master crafter to get the good damage from your self made stuff. If you choose to buy your stuff you dont, but that is going to be costly. THere is an EXCELLENT grind macro on this board using 8 tools to get the job done. I got all four boxes in ONE DAY using this thing. It is that good. Check it out and happy healing.
I did it all in one day the old fashion way, you just need the resources and crafting tools. Also hopefully you don't suffer from arthiritis.

wrong. they're called experimentation points.
Hmm, let's see. My best poison using highest quality material available on Bloodfin, I am able to experiement twice on Ease of Use to get the Potency to 101 and Combat Medicine Use skill to 84. And without mastering Combat Medic, that leaves you at best 75 Combat Medicine skill use. And inorder to "dumb" down that Ease of Use to 75, I had to use additional 3 points of experimentaton points, which leaves me only 5 points to devote to effectiveness.
The final result.
127 Potency
137 Effectiveness
32 Range
25 Area Effected
75 Required CM Use Skill
Not very powerful if you ask me. And since the individual is not a Master Combat Medic, therefore, he looses an additional 25% effectiveness, which leaves him/her with only 65% overall effectiveness. This means that the poison will only do Base Effectiveness * 1.65, which equates to 137 * 1.65, and that equals 226.05 per tick, my Poison Bs are more powerful than that.
So, in conclusion, despite that you can use Area Effecting poison/disease without mastering Combat Medic, it's pointless to do so because the lack of power behind it.
Hope this clears this discussion a bit. And Bcasey03, I think Agent001 was referring to standard Area C poison since no one is stupid enough to waste 5 experimental points on ease of use just so a non master CM can use it.
