Thread: Anyone up for Combat Medic Guilds?
So here's my idea, lets make life miserable for these people. Lets show them what Combat Medics can do when grouped en force. Lets start CM only guilds across the servers to unite our power. Some of the benefits:
1.) Stackable offensive attacks. Sure mind poison isnt stackable, but mind disease is, with stamina disease, strength disease, action poison, etc...think of the damage 6 or more Maste CMs could wreak in a PvP battle, with a tight group throwing mass area heals while and the rest attacking with different area attacks.
2.) Sharing resources. I bring in about 100-200k a day in harvesting resources. Myslef and a few other CM's I know have fleets of mining equipment. A concentrated, directed effort would bring in all the rare resources any CM could ever want.
3.) Setting rates. A combined effort of Cm's would help maintain hire rates for CM's. so everyone is actually getting paid.
Call it a syndicate, call it price fixing, call it the CM mafia. Whatever, the benefits in play out weigh any negative aspects. Oh, we will get more calls for NERF, but as an organized community we could easily counter that in spades.
Anyhow, Im on Tempest. I love the guild Im in, but I would be more than happy to start a CM only guild for advantages like these.
Combat Medic will not be as effective once the new patch is implemented and the additional support fire from Bounty Hunters, Riflemen and other combat professions will be helpful.
Also, a group of Combat Medics may not be as effective as you think because Combat Medic can not take a lot of punishments during battle unless you're a CM/Doctor hybrid that walks around fully buffed all the time. Being a Combat Medic, I've realized a lot of weaknesses in my profession since I exclusively dedicate myself to PvP.
In addtion to that,in-order to organize and coordinate a strike force of Combat Medic will require great team effort and it will be more difficult than you imagine because of individuality amoungst the team member. However with that said, I believe no PvP guild would be complete without at least 2-3 active Combat Medic at all times, but I can speak for majority of the CM here when I say that I welcome any Bounty Hunter or Commandos to join me on the strike team.
Detchi,
This sort of thing did happen for a time on Tempest before I saw you around. Shimeka was the first MCM (Imp), and I was a few hours behind.
Then came Fishy (reb, retired) and Zek (mostly retired), and a few others. I spent 2-3 weeks helping to level Reb docs/cms in Anchorhead, and kept a low profile.
I was known among the Imps and for abouta week we had battles where i had my title on but brought 2-4 other MCM they didn't know with, and we slaughtered em. I was the target, and in the mayhem they didn't concentrate on Hoot, Tryst, Casy, Kirus, Zelkin and a few others. They sure did afterwards.
It was fun, but also came at the height of AT-ST walker powers. Dangerous but fun.
I would say though, Detchi, that the political ramifications of such a strategy today could be severe. Just last night 40 overt imps battled a smaller force in Coronet, and within a few minutes all it came down to was a CM poison flinging fest from both sides....that's how dominant CMs are now (I don't know of a single one of them that was MD/MCM...a MCM that dosen't have to fear poisons can almost stand around like Wyatt Earp right now begging a showdown).
As to your points, 1 is quite true...if any live long enough to have the disease ticks really accumulate, which they won't given poisons. Resources is not that much of an issue...it's waiting for quality to come and a collective of 50 people waiting for good Eleton isn't gonna make it come faster. 3 might work.
But what you will definitely get by exposing the real power of grouped CMs is a markedly increased call for NERF. And no amount of solidarity on Tempest will defend against the nerf-bat, but solidarity in showing them what we're really capable of will bring it swinging sooner, and faster. That 1 CM can be a raid buster is bad enough...That 3+ (given at least 2 have rez status) could pretty much own a town right now...I'm not sure how much we want to...just because we can.
SWG to date has shown, correctly, near zero ability to give into people whinign no-nerfs. That isn't to say that their implementations have been correct...frequently they're wrong. But no-nef doesn't work. However, unfortunately, they have shown a weakness to respond to widespread complaints of Nerf them...
It's a byproduct of being in a reactionary environment rather than a proactive one.
Our encounters to date Detchi have been quite amicable (despite you being an Imp), but I would humbly suggset that a scorched earth policy is not in the best interests of the combat medic profession.
Jacore MD/MCM
First things first: Please send Orrl a tell and thank him for bringing honor to the Rebel cause. Much like yourself in the heat of battle, he fought an honorable duel tonight. He didnt get angry that I inquired why a Rebel was in an Imperial base (the orange jumpsuit and bio gave him away) - after all, its what The Empire does. As a Tera Kasi artist though, he didnt stand a chance. You are correct in your point about CM's in combat in this stage of the game - about the only player I hesitate in fighting is you, another Master Combat Medic.
The response I have received from Tempest Combat Medics has been positive, yet I fear you are right in your prediction of the NERF outcome. Without going into tactics, a group composed of CM's would be unstoppable, and would result in a NERF bat similar to what AT-ST's and Bounty Hunters have seen of late.
In actuality I just like to dream of the awesome might of such a horrific assault. We wouldn't just take a town, we would take ANY town, at our whim, anytime we desired.
