I enjoy the idea of CM but I was curious how well it works against PVE. Right now with getting a dr buff (of course) and my combat profession, I can solo rancors with out much problem. I guess my real question for you is,
1. How long does it take once you lob a poison into a crowd of mosnters for it to knock them down to 1 hp/mp
I was thinking of Cm with some sort of range weapon, you could drop a poison on all of those pesky grouping mosnters since they all seem to pack and by the time you get around to shooting the rest of them they will almost be dead?
Just curios and thanks for any advice

CM PvE is good when your soloing a medium-to-large sized creature. But in groups the poisons are pretty much worthless because by the time the poison ticks some HAM off the group will most likely have killed it.
However the ranged healing is great for support work in a group, allowing you to heal someone across a field to keep them from dieing.

The value of the combat medic is directly proportional to how long it takes for either you or your group to kill the target or target group.
If you kill the target fast, it means few are taking damage and poisons have little chance to really kick in.
If your target takes some time to bring down, players take damage and need heals and the poisons have time to really do their stuff.
In essence, combat medics shine on the advanced planets and against endgame/epic mobs. Against everything else, it's wasteful (using a poison for 1-2 ticks is a waste of the throwing animation).

It's freakin awesome professino for PvE and alot of the time needed to take on some of the high end PvE toons. Last night me and some freinds went out to the NightSister's Strong hold in search of some good look. Now the elders and I forget who else had 360k HAMS... Now think we weren't using any pets what so ever, we had our TKM's and Swordsman tanking and 2 commando's going at it, while I sat back dropping area heals, Health posions, and running into the middle of it to heal the melee's minds... Its' freakin awesome IMO.

Yesterday I was trying to take on a simple Lesser Swarming Dewback Lair, I could not do it with even Area C poisons. they would repair the lair and regen before then Poison could do it's job. So got a commando friend to help, he one shoted the beasties and then we took out the lair, me with my pistol, big deal, I helped alittle at least.
In PvE solo CM is tough, in groups we rock. Area heals that heal for 600+ help to keep everyone alive.
And to all the Nerf callers, go cry to your momma, for she is the only one that cares.

It really all depends on your template that you choose if you want to solo. If you don't have alot of extra combat skills or defenses it can be very tough.

You can stand above the nightsisters in the bottom and drop poison on them from above. Try it.
