Thread: *sigh* Healing isn't needed at all in this game :(

My buddy and I have been killing nightsisters lately, and I swear the only healing I ever do is the ocassional mind heal.

My buddy the TKM gets buffs, wears his ubese or composite and his health and action never move. None of the mobs seem able to hurt him.

What is moving is his mind bar, which ever so slowly creeps down. Now I can heal this bar, and every once in a while I do, but if I healed mind more then once in a blue moon I would be destroying my own mind, and my ability to poison.

Instead the mind healing is pretty much all left to the tanks discretion. He pops a muon, he drinks a brandy, he eats... a whatever. He consumes all these mind buffs, bringing him to the point during a fight where his mind isn't effected any more then his health or action.

When I first started playing my medic, and then combat medic, I had visions of what it was like in AO. In AO my healer was a huge asset to teams. Teams looooved me. I could log on and have people giving me tells asking me to join this hunt, or help with that raid. I was vital and needed.

In galaxies my healing is such an incidental part of things I don't know what to do . I dunno, it just seems so pointless being a combat medic who isn't all that into pvp.

meh :/

Try supporting a larger group? Or have your friend go after larger/harder critters? It seems the people that 'love' me the most are CH's and people who have moderate combat abilites since they sideline in something else. Say weaponsmith or some other non combat profession. For instance, go hang out at the dark jedi cave on Dantooine. Ask if someone needs a healer in their group, more than likely you will find yourself using all the area stims you want, and usually are very grateful for you being around

critters with no mitigation make crappy tanks. I don't think I'd want to be in a group with a critter tank. (plus critters just havn't been the same since they nerfed graul maulers)

Ditto with the random groups. I've done rancor missions with groups, and I've done rancor missions with my buddy. Rancor missions with groups you have to heal cause they're noobs who don't wear armor, and try to tank as ranged proffs, and fight without buffs *shudder*.

Wheras my buddy can solo the rancors without breaking a sweat.

I do understand that the thingies in the jedi cave are probably tougher then rancors , but are they tougher then the nightsisters my buddy pretty much solo's (spellweavers, protectors, ect)?

i'll have to see, thanks for the suggestion anyways I'll head out to dant one of these days and see what a jedi cave group is like. Maby I'll feel usefull as a healer again *sob*

I agree, people have no need for dedicated healers except for the once every 3 hour buff, and the occasional res. Very occasional. I would like to see the damage done by some of the higher level mobs be upped, so that they are actually difficult. The only thing that I was ina group and fought that was difficult recently was the Nightsister Queen at the bottom of the cave. It just took forever to get to her.

Bring back the Gorax! Insta-DB and it was super fast. I remember seeing 15-20 players get dispatched one after another. Those are the things we need. And make them random, so they scare the bajesus out of you.

Ok i'm not getting it. What I basicly read is I'm pissed because my buddy is a good enough player that he doesn't really need healing. Then when someone sugests for you to go find a group that can use healing you say no way because.. well for various reasons they will need healing?

i got the same thing from reading the post. the concept was that buffs and food are making healing obsolete, yet the thought of going out to heal those who fight unbuffed makes the original poster shutter....?

clearly a person who is at one with their duality...

*sigh* the thought of finding a group of noobs just doesn't appeal to me. I know my class, I have the high end equipment, the high quality resources, I have the experience to do the uber mobs.

Finding a group of noobs who only need healing becuase they're clueless just doesn't appeal.

A group of people like my buddy (and I), people who know their classes inside and out. People who went to the trouble of getting all the right equipment, and who migrate their stats to take full advantage of buffs. People like that don't need healing.

Andmis4to I didn't flock to the CM proffession like so many others to be an uber pvp machine. PvP in this game is such a joke compared to other games that it just doesn't appeal. I started my CM long long ago to be a combat Healer.

hmm, what I'm trying to say here is that in groups of my peer group (experienced, intelligent players who arn't holo grinding monkeys) my healing abilities arn't needed.

Sure I can go group with random pickup groups and make use of my healing, but that feels like grouping with people way lower level then myself (if I compared it to other games with levels). I end up feeling like the groups fighting much below my level, and that it's only my efforts that hold it up.

I miss being able to group with my equals as a healer and be needed.

Man do I ever hear you on this one. This is what really turned me off to the profession in the first place. The fact is that no one needs a healer. Most can just get by on novice medic combined with buffs. I think it would be nice to beef up some creatures damage so that even a buffed person needs an occasional heal because at times I feel like an ass wasting a valuable toolbar slot ona ranged stim I know I'm never going to use.

Hell the most valuable place for a healer is in a cantina to help keep the dancers dancing. Really sad if you ask me.

I find that healing usually isnt necessary for PvE encounters. It is necessary for raids though in areas where there is no cloning facility available though, i.e. player cities and bases. In those cases not having doctors, cm's, dancers, and musicians will hamper youre ability to function.
