I am a master doc and nearly a master CM. I am not that big into actual combat but enjoy going out with groups and keeping them all alive and kicking. I have found that by having no combat skills I am more efficent than a Doc/rifleman, brawler, tk, etc as I am completely focused on healing...not fighting. I am getting groups to pay me fairly well to go out with em to. Got a group of 5 guys to throw 100k my way to go out on tat with em and keep em all alive and kicking. Just curious as to who out there thinks this is a neat idea (doc for hire lol) and who thinks I am wasting my time!

It was fun for a while but I eventually got bored with it. Alot of players still choose that route though.

It's a nice idea, I do it myself. I'm master doc and 4004 CM (see sig). I don't have the /healmind, which is the only thing I'd like to have as a CM in this build (and the range, speed, and effectiveness bonuses for master). I also have carbineer, but I'm not very damaging with it, only enough to take out average-level creatures that get in my way while running around for harvesters, factories, etc.
Also, I'd recommend picking up a ranged weapon with fast speed (maybe just go 3 or 4 boxes in the marksman section of pistols) because under the current system heals, poisons, diseases, and those things are dependent on weapon speed and queued in that way. (which is why I dropped rifleman) Try it sometime with a slow weapon and heal yourself, then try it with a 1.0-2.0 pistol and see how the delay on your heal works (of course this is assuming that you have no specials in your combat queue).
Just some thoughts, and I'm glad to see someone else with a similar template.

Im Master Doc/CM 4404/Marksman 3004/Business III (for vendor). I use a speed sliced spraystick, which works excellant in PvP! (when I can hit them).I can crank outHeadShot1 every second and a half, or so. But being a MD/CM for hire kinda sounds fun. I get bored when there is no crafting to do, or noone to pvp with because I am unable to solo anything with this template. Doc for hire could be a fun way to make a little extra money when Im bored

Doc/Cm is alot more fun than alot of people might think. It can be a challenge, and give a sense of excitement to be in this role. I liked it. Its only when you get beat down by nuna's that make you rethink this.

Rifleman/Doc is the counter to Rifleman/CM since you can cure any poison on you right away then see who has the best rifle/gear. Rifleman by itself is more of a solo combat support. You sit back and spam headshot3 unless you are trying to lay a dizzy or stun state on someone. Trying to do doctor functions while carrying a slow T21 is not recommened especially when under attack (combat quenes the heal/cures with combat moves automatically). With CM you throw and then concentrate solely on your combat.
CM/Doctor is a pure support template. Your offensive skill is regulated to poisons and whatever gimp marksman profession you have. They downside is that unless you have a close knit groups of friends or guildies who want to group often you'll be up a creek on what to do other than sit outside a starport and buff. Redoing the Geo cave, corvette, and DWB can get old afterdoing it a dozentimeseach week. And PvP wise everyone you fight has the same ups and downs as a pure CM although if your opponent brings their own doc then you're kind screwed. If they had more content you'd see alot more people using that temple.
Then again finding a doctor who just his JOB as in a support role is hard enough. I hate screaming at TKM/doc "heal my dizzy!!!" while I'm checking out the stars on my back.

^ More true words were never spoken. Problem being, my CM/Doc with rifle 4 (using a speed sliced spraysick most of the time if I have to) has a ranged defense of +8 and a melee defense of +2 with no mitigation. In the DWB, if a super battle droid decides he dosen't like the way I look at him, even with Doc buffs and 80% composite, it doesn't take much to take me down. I spend most of my time unbuffed in the DWB because things are so tuff in there. Anything less tough though, and groups don't need a CM.

You are not wasting your time at all. My main char is Master Doc and Master CM with all my focus on healing and I have a LOT of fun playing it. I do not need to be uber-1337 like some folks. I find I can be more effective as a leader and team member with this template.

Add me to the list of Master Doc/CM's
I have a second account that will be pure combat to beat NPC's etc with but I love the support role played by Doc/CM.
I haven't used my CM in a pvp offensive role, just spam area stim c for now.
If you are all over combat, this might not be the best role unless you have a second acct.

Notice a common trend here? Doctor/CMs love the combo, but often have a second combat character. I am the same way. I am the same way. MD/MCM for group activity and TKM/Rifle for solo play.

Yup.
Although my PA can't decide if they want the master commando on the trip, or the MD/MCM to come along, sometimes. They'd miss Tazz's flamethrower, but they also wish for Jeffn's healing powers.

Doc/CM here and I love the combo. You can choose to play it full support or full offensive depending on your mood, and both ways you more or less help win the battle for your team. When the occasion calls for it, Havla up, and spam a poison stack, and you become the highest damage dealer on your team. Or you can play a healer and keep the non docs poison free.
Since PVP right now is all about poison, having the ability to both throw and cure it makes you one of the key components of a battle.
And also, no matter what other people say, /healMind is the most amazing healing ability in PVP and if used properly, a few mind healers can keep a group alive many times as long as it normally would.
To see a video of what a good CM/Doc can do, check the GCW or Radiant forums for the TAO video, "Fabulous Four" or something like that. It really is good stuff.
