I made master medic, and was looking to specialize in CM because I wanted to be the ultimate "medic" in combat for my group. This mean

BIG heals. Need to have big heals, rather than lots of small quick ones. The delay, even with maxed skill, still could mean life or death

Ability to get incap team members up and going again 100% - Again, relies on big heals

Ability to raise slain team members.

So far, it seems that the CM is 2nd rate in the first 2, and doesnt even have the 3rd ability. Doctor seemingly excells had huge heals over the CM, with the except of range. Range is really just an convinience, ive found that the time it takes someone to throw a ranged heal, I can usually be there healing using the group window and the /follow macro. Plus, being right in combat with everyone, im already standing near them.

And not having the ability to raise slain team members? please tell me this is a mistake? This should be THEE skill that defines the CM from a doctor, but instead its the other way around.

I also came to find out that Docs get pretty decent buffs as well. Again, something that greatly helps in combat. I dont think the CM gets anything like that (from what I have read)

So it really looks like the only thing CM's have going for them is ranged heals, and some DoT attacks that arent anywhere up to par as far as damage goes.

PLEE: please please please make this class live up to its name. It NEEDS a rez ability, it needs to be able to be more effective IN combat situations than a doctor is. Currently the best suited name for this class would be "3rd party, Stim throwing, observer."

Combat medic is one of the professions that gets REALLY good at master. Right now AOE stims are broken (but will be fixed with the next publish).

I felt the same way you did....... "What are they talking about.... 'combat' medic?..... I'm not doing any real dmg here" And I wasn't........ my heals weren't doing enough to the main tank or tanks for me to swap targets and drop a full auto 2 shot on the oposition. I wasn't able to hit a full auto 2 shot (800-850 actual dmg shot) until I got Ranged Stim D's. I can drop 1.7k to 2.1k heals on my main tanks with the D's. That buys me enough time to swap targets, special attack, and swap back to my party.

The full auto thing doesn't include dmg done by poison stims (as I am waiting for those to get upped in dmg dealt), the Ranged stim E's (which, once fixed should heal for equal to if not more then a Doctor's E)and doesn't incorporate AOE healing, which will free up a LOT of healing time and mind pool usage.

The weight of "Combat" in Combat Medic is directly proportional to the study one puts into the class and the ability one has to develop thier own rythem for combat.

Are we supposed to do as much dmg as a BH, Commando, or a master in any of the elite combat professions? No. Our job is to keep our party alive WHILE we dish out dmg. People say that doctors are more effective in combat then us........ hehe I know I was one of them. But that was until I got my Ranged Stim D's. Right now I guarantee that my mind pool will last longer then a doctor's who has hte same mind stats. Because now.......... I never have to leave my kneeling position (better mind regen in that position) in order to keep my party alive. A doctor has to run to every person and heal. Now I know what you are saying....... "well parties should clump together." This is true but you are forgetting one major thing........ the distance between MOBx/main tanks and the "clump" of support fire. The doctor still has to traverse that distance and the whole time they are running they are not regening at the same rate as me, who never has to stand.

As for rezzes........ I have mixed feelings.......... I think it would be cool to have, but I am not pushing for it. To me that is something doctors should excel at. But if we do wind up getting that ability, I won't complain either hehe.

Now I'm not saying CMs are better then Doctors....... we excel in different areas that compliment each other. It's just that I keep hearing "Where's the COMBAT??!!" and I'm saying we have it. It may not be to the magnitude some people want it to be, but I assure we CAN dish out the damgage while at the same time having a healing advantage over our Doctor and master medic conterparts IN combat (controlled settingsare a whole other can-o-worms) due to our ranged and AOE heals.

Oh and I also forgot to mention........ I never actually STOP attacking. I have a greater duration between my special attacks then say a person who isn't multi-tasking, but I'm still pumping out damage the whole fight.

first of all ark angel said out calss isnt really good until higher levels of CM...why? because 2 of the 4 trees in Doctor stem off medic while nothing in Cm stems off medic...

also, we have a ranged support mastery that is supposed to make us more combat effective in theory...this is a point of debate right now that there is a thread here on this board that addresses the need for more combat skills for the CM class...

lastly, doctors should definately have revive and not CMs. Despite what you may think, CMs are the best damage dealers in the game...we arernt supposed to need revive since if we are doing out jobs no one would really die, (this isnt the case because of mind damage, but i rarely lose anyone in PvE to H or A incap), thus it should remain in the doctor line. Also if u look at a revive pack, it heals for H A M wounds and H A M damage....anything with wounds should always remain in the doctor line.

Dots will pwn once fixed...and the ability to do damage via dots will define this class as it should...

however there is definately room for some combat improvement for the class...

And i dont know why you think doctors are supposed to be in combat healing...if u think about it, cure line and healstate line in doctor tree is specifically made for combat healing and can be extremely power tools...in fact when dots are fixed and PvP duration goes live...not having a doctor is going to hurt u a lot in PvP...

Great post Ark - agree 100%.

Be careful what you ask for in terms of combat enhancements for asupport class. Anyone play AO early on as a trader? Nerf city once the masses picked up on it.

<-- 200 doctor on AO. I know all about people wanting healers nerfed cause of PvP.

In a 75% damage reduction environment, Combat Medics are going to be very powerful team PvPers when DOTs and area stims are fixed. Doctors - especially with rifle skill - are probably going to be very powerful duellists.

I'm not sure if master rifle or pick-and-choose carbine would be better for a PvP combat medic. With the speed bonus at master and the ability to target mindpool, and strafe-shot 2 being an area attack, rifles do have a lot going for them in a pvp environment for both area and targeted damage. I guess it remains to be seen how well the support specials like suppression fire 2 and charge shot 2 for carbines, stack up against being able to target mind pool with a rifle.

rifleman will not be that great in pvp because of the damage reduction, range issues and slow rate of firing...rightnow if a rifleman cant one hit me from range and incap me he's dead...the pvp reduction might actually hurt the rifle class the most even tho they do mind damage...75% reduction on a 2000 head shot is 500 mind damage thats not gonna kill anyone with a full mind bar....and if they cant one hit they are dead...

this pvp reduction makes mind damage king and the class that dishes out the most mind damage at the fastest rate right now is the BH with eyeshot. In effect, all this patch did was make BHs that much stronger. Granted CM will now be able to heal damage from all the stopping shots pistoleers throw out but will it matter? Longer pvp jkut means KD is gonan get spammed more...and yes it will remain spamable with buffs and spice.

right now the king of the game outside BH is master doctor/pistoleer...

even with 75% damage reduction 1000-2000 points on a stopping shot is still 250-500 damage every second or so...so u will see pistoleers spamming disarming shot 2 (AOE KD) then 1-2 hits on a target wihile they are KDed for the 50% damage bonus with stopping shot...and game over...BHs will just underhand shot to KD and spam eyeshot for mind damage at 50% more damage...

in a sense, pvp damagereduction willmake combat longer but make the currently best pvp classes even stronger opening the gap. The only real benefits for CMs is that we will be able to take a few hits allowing us to run away and get under cover and out of LOS to use our dots. Which is good.

Oh and i predict it now, in about a week, people will be crying for a nerf for mind disease and poison, watch.Dont get me wrong tho...if u arent a master pistoleer and CM, dont peek ur head out its gonna get ugly after the pvp reduction goes live...

oh and btw pets will own...hands down...pets get no pvp damage reduction, so have fun taking those huge hits from the rancors and gurricks...CH was supposed to be nerfed and weakened but actually got stronger this patch...

At master rifleman the speed and accuracy bonuses accrue mightily, I don't hear any complaints about hitting things at any range from a high level rifleman. Getting there might be a challenge, but in the end it's worth it, is what I have heard.

From using carbines to carbine specialist and looking ahead up the carbineer tree, I'm more worried long term about carbine accuracy. Most carbines are horribly inaccurate, cost alot of HAM to use specials for, and have less bonuses in the elite profession than either rifles or pistols.

The biggest advantages of rifles and carbines though is going to be armor penetration. Most rifles are AR 1, the T21 is supposed to be AR 3. Many carbines are AR 1 and there is the laser carbine option, AR 2.

Pistols on the other hand, except maybefor the SR combat and scatter, areseeming like they will almost be negated by armor in the 75% damage environment. A 1500 damage stopping shot from an FWG5 would become 375 damage after PvP reduction. If you're wearing armor that has any heat protection at all, that's halved immediately because of the AR ratings - so it's now down to 188 damage. Then if thearmor has say 10% heat reduction, more damage reduction would ensue. In short... if you've got good armor on, you'd be able to heal almost the full damage of a stopping shot by using a mediocre Stim A from novice medic.

An AR 2laser rifle, doing a 1500 damage headshot 3, would be reduced 75% for PvP... then get a 25% bonus against AR 1 player armor. So against the same person who takes 188 damage to a random pool from a powerful pistoleer special, a comparable rifle special would do 468 damage. And the rifle damage is focused on the mind pool.

The result is going to be that bounty hunters with the AR 1 high damage high speed scatter pistol and eye shot will be the only pistol-users who can effectively PvP after this reduction. Pistoleers without the BH pistol line will end up like melees as they try and get in range to use pistol whip; master pistoleers will spam disarming blast (ranged KD).

u dont acount for KD...which despite the attempts by the devs to fix will be continued to be spammed...
