I have heard that CM is not it is all cracked up to be. I am trying to decide between doctor or combat medic. I was leaning toward CM but after reading some posts I am not so sure I wanna go CM.

I can say I am glad I went Combat Medic. I have heard of some of the potential problems / bugs, and eventually they will be worked out,but the biggest thing I get out of itis can I keep a group of 15-20 players alive during heavy combat, a personal challenge if you will.

I notice during even heavy combat theplayers doing the fighting have time to type messagesand generally do a little BS'ing, while I find if I don't concentrate on the HAM barsof all the other players and where they are they end up dead. A Combat Medic doing his / her job correctly does not have time to chat during a fight if they want to keep everyone alive.

A good place to see this is Fort Tuskin. Yes this may not be totally realistic combat but I challange any Combat Medic to take a group through the Gate, one that formed at the Fort and not one that plays together normally, and come out of the Cave at the other end with all their players alive.I will fully agree PvP is a different matter completely, but that is just another challenge.

Thereis a lot of potential to contribute to many areas of the game:

Combat healing, big game hunting parties, team up with a Bounty Hunter and help them take a difficult mark without using creatures (sorry I notice you are a creature handler), and also offensive tactics once the poison and disease problems are worked out. I am sure others could mention many other ways to have fun.

Depending on how attached you are to other skills you have learned you could mix a little of both. The character I have planned will be Master Combat Medic with enough of the Doctor skills to revive players in a pinch, still maintain some Scout skills as well as two of the Specialist weapons quals under the Marksman tree, or one Specialist Weapon and 3 Levels of that weapons Elile Profession. Nothing says you have to pick one or the other. Medical crafting stinks, everyone knows that, so don't take those skills under Combat Medic and Doctor and have even more points to spread around for other professions.

This may have gotten a little off the mark but Combat Medic is a good profession if you enjoy a good challenge or just feel like sitting in the Med Center healing and helping out new players.

best is relative...the way we fight is to toss a mind dot from behind cover and laugh at how over powered mind damage is!

At this moment in time high-skilled CMs are probably the best class to play in PvP (they can destroy enemy quick and brutal, heal themselfs as well as doctors, and support health and action for a large group of people in combat easily).
In PvE they are good as main healers / additional damage dealers, but you would want to have a doctor around for reviving.
