Thread: What nerfs are coming for CM ?
I've gotten more than one /tell after my group incapped someone who thought they shouldn't have been incapped and told me "wow the incredible cheapness of cm, oh well, nerf coming"
Notice I say group because as a master doc and master CM, I have no fighting skills. I have pistol 1 from the marksman tree. Everything I do needs to be done with a group.
So what are these supposed nerfs coming for CM? I've noticed that when SOE nerfs something, it gets nerfed to where the profession is completely unusable ala DE and carb.
Hoping to keep my profession viable..
Thanks for any info
Though i do suspect Docs will get stronger counters, one of the things they want is area cure which would make a lot more people happy and keep the CM poison as powerful.
This is not only a CM issue concerning Poison/Disease incap. This also concerns the Commandosflamethrower. Seeing as how devs don't want DOTs to kill it looks like adamage and wound combination will changed in the future. It DOES cause problemsthough. One example would be the self incapping mind heal due to the damage and wounds recieved.
Dont expect nerf's, just expect answers to what we do.
Expect a potential AOE Poison cure.
Expect a reduction in how much damage we do considering some of us empty mind pools in one click.
Expect Potency to be lowered etc.
I mean just Expect these things. No one knows if theyre coming or not but if they do come I wont be surprised. But no biggie, I can still manage with Advanced Strafe backing it all up.
All of the below is strictly personal conjecture and educated guesses and has nothing to do with being a correspondent. These are stictly my opinions and carry no official weight at all.
Expect the dominance of Mind Attacks to go away and all of those mind attack-related issues to dissapear.
The reason is the Combat System Overhaul. By moving special and skill useage off of the bars for causing damage there will no longer be the exploitability problem that allowing mind healing previously would have caused. Add in that there should be a new balance pass to rectify any latent issues with previoulsy mind-damaging professions that may have had drawbacks simply because they could previously attack and unhealable pool.
All of that adds up, to my way of thinking, getting full mind heals back into the game. Personally I think it's will jut be put right back into stims in exactly the same way we now heal Health and Action. MS will still dominate in healing on that front because of ranged and AoE damage healing, but now being able to do it to all 3 pools.
We also know there is a DoT revamp in the works, likely to them more consistent with other combat forms. My guess is that some forms of resists will be added to thngs like armor, in much the way the reisist kinetic, heat or acid now. By the same respect I would hope to see, contrary to what some other posters here are expecting, that with these newfound resistances an increase in DoT damage to occur.Isay this primarilybecause our DPS ratings is nowhere near that of even the lowest levels of an elitecomabt class with the appropriate weapon in many cases. It is only the mind pool that has made CM poison so seemingly dominant but with a Mind Stimming possibly showing back up into the game, that would no longer be an issue.
Since DoTs are suposed to be brought more in line with other combat forms, then I would also expect to see them incap again. I'm not sure what that means in terms of wha tthey will be doing with the duration statistic, but I would hope we would see that coming back in.
I have no real idea what might be done about Disease, but I think they will look to reveamp it as well, possible change it completely from what it does now. Maybe it would be like Ranger and Scout traps to cause state effects and lower resistances, but that work on NPCs/players as well or instead of animals. Maybe even removing their ability to work onanimal MOBssince those would be too far removed, genetically, from the diseases we make. Or maybe they will become more of a debuff, causing "wounds" but only by removing in large chunks any buffed up attributes knocking them down until they are to their normal level.
AoE Cures.... possible. Personally I think they should be in the game to provide a proper balance between Doc and CM. Other possiblities, though, lie in "Immunity" packs for Docs, that provide incresed resistances to DoTs so a Doc would likely have less "patients" to cure in an AoEDoT attack to begin with.
That's what I think might lie for us in the future, at any rate.
go check the GCW board for news of nerfs - the amount of people complaining about CM at the moment, and the fact that the devs will likely listen to these whiners means we'll be nerfed back to the stone-age.
