Heya folks,

I snagged a holocron from a Surface Marshall the other day and it told me to master Combat Medic. Seems cool enough. Don't know squat about medicine.

I'm hoping for some feedback from people who have been doing this awhile. Don't really need the "Combat Medic in 10 Hours" or "Grinding Made Easy" routines. Don't have the time or desire to be that kind of gamer. I'm not holo grinding. But, I am looking for a change of pace, so this holo came at a convenient time. My first concern: I'm looking to have some fun with this.

Anything I can focus on that provides a good time and will help me build skills at a reasonable pace?

Your suggestions/advice will be appreciated.

if you don't want to grind you shouldn't ask for advise and find everything out for yourself, this will give you the most enjoyable experience aswell

You're a real help. Thanks for posting a reply.

I too drew Combat Medic from my cron. I am a "grind" kind of casual player. Meaning I only get to play from time to time, but when I do, I want to make the most of it. My best advice is to goto a busy med center (coronet or so) and heal folks. But not just damage... heal wounds. These earn you more XP. As for crafting... well I'm grinding that. I buy all my meds off the bazaar. I don't care to learn how neat and nifty the meds are, I just want to master combat medic, honestly. I'm upset that of the two professions I cannot remian a TKM and master, I pulled one. At least it was this one and not BH!

Sorry, but I only started medic last night and that's all I've figured out. I'm 3-2-2-3 medic right now after about 3 hours of playing. It goes quick. When you have nobody to heal, craft. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks Riddix!

I too pulled Combat medic in my holiday holo. Fortunately I was playing a pretty well rounded character to begin with- Master Artisan- 4/4/3/4 marksman- 4/0/3/3 scout- 1/1/1/1 medic. I'm a casual player that likes to make the most of his time as well.
What I would add for the crafting part is take the plunge and get a couple of personal harvs (a chem and 1-2 floral) and a wind generator or two. Find a spot and plant them for a 4-7 days. Even on a not so hot vein you will have enough materials to grind right through any of the crafting trees in combat medic. I say this cause you could be gathering things while you are not on line and dealing with RL.

Once you have the material I would definitely recommend going to one of the artisan sites and picking up a crafting macro.

You will grind through the tree in no time.

I already have a crap load of material but I'm afraid I'm going to have to drop a lot of stuff I like to make jedi.

Macro! Woohoo, no doubt man. I met an awesome wookie last night in the med center who sent me a macro. I've got 5 tools, crafting and all I do is enter the resources... so as fast as I can i'm double clicking. My bro is going artisan so once he makes some equipment we'll start harvesting. Thanks Tevin!

BTW: What are you crafting for your grinding xp?

An alternate way to do it if you aren't in a "grinding" mood is to do what I did.

First, get two crafting tools. I started with one and realized that 2 would be much better. Not having to wait as long to make stim or wound pack is nice so just get 2 of them. Also nice to have a really good medical droid with storage, a 110% medical module, and crafting station and a stack of batteries. This allows you to heal anyone anywhere as long asyou have your droid out and it is charged. They do suck up batteries rather quickly so get a good sized stack of them. However, you do not need it charged if you are just crafting. Or if you are healing in a med center.

Next, go to an empty hotbar. put the tools in it. the put the medic commands you have on that same bar so you have all your medical commands in one place.

Then, craft up some stim A's and use then in a cantina healing entertainers til you get wound packs. Then you can either stay there or move to the med center and heal people's wounds. Once you can make B wound packs the xp comes in a lot faster. I only used stim A's because the higher level ones take more resources and have a lot more uses per stim so you don't craft as much. Using A's will mean less heals per stim and that means more crafting and more crafting xp.

If you are rich, you can hire someone to do a tumbling macro and just heal them til you are so sick of it you decide to do other stuff. Some people go to a somewhat safe POI like Tusken Fort, pull out their droid, make sure it's charged, and heal people up there.

I just stayed in a med center for about 3 days and got novice CM and didn't have to grind anything. CM is where the desire to grind will come into play because you need so much more xp then you did for medic.

Hope this helps. Good Luck.

you must be a real blind **edit** if you can't see through his lie. He says he doesn't want to grind like a holohomo, yet he does want to know the quickest way to grind!

Beg pardon? I am certain that if you go back and read my original post, you will find that there is nothing in there that states I am looking for the quickest way to grind. In fact, my stated purpose is to NOT grind. I was asking for an enjoyable alternative to grinding that will allow me to advance my skills in Combat Medic. Period.

Now, I am pretty certain that seeking to advance one's skills at a reasonable pace (my exact words) is not considered grinding. I have been playing this game since a few weeks after launch and I have mastered two professions, Scout and Ranger. In all that time, I have found one holocron. I have not made a point of scouring the galaxy for them. I got lucky and I intend to take advantage of that luck.

Like as not it will take me as long to master Medic and Combat Medic as it did to master Scout and Ranger. I am interested in having some fun along the way. I am NOT interested in grinding. My goal with this post was to get the insight of individuals who have had fun with the experience of mastering the professions. My goal was not to encourage unnecessary flaming from people who don't take the time to understand what they are reading.

Still having trouble figuring out why you chose to respond so negatively. Outright calling me a liar? You don't know me. I am confident that the folks who do see through your insult. Holohomo? Insanity. Absolute insanity that there are people who have nothing better to do than troll message boards looking for an opportunity to start an argument.

If you are looking for a flame war, don't waste your time waiting for a response from me. I won't bother.

I know this doesn't apply to all..but here goes:
Don't know how many of u know this, but a buff will give you one point of med xp for every two points u buff. So as a Master Doc I can get about 6k Med Xp for a full set of buffs (on average).
I am trying out the Combat Medic Prof as I'm raking in the Med Xp as Master Doc.

The only other advice I can offer is ABECs were the crafting item of choice for mastering Doctor. Set p a macro, 5 or so Med Crafting tools and (double) click away. I don't know if there is something better for the CM? Feel free to enlighten me.

oh btw: the resources for ABEC (Advance Biol Effect Controler) can be fairly expensive.
