Thread: Idea to Implement Disease Innoculations if they are added.

I'm not saying they should be added to the game, but if they are, here's one way they could be implemented. Mind stimming will take care of Poison, so this idea is directed to Disease only.

A doctor can craft and apply disease innoculations to other players, the same way as he applies buffs. A separate innoculation must be applied to protect against each type of disease (health, action, etc.)

Craftinga disease innoculation pack requires 2 identical disease packs of the samedisease-type as components, in addition to a few other resources. For example, a single mind disease innoculation pack C would require 2 Mind C disease packs plus some other ingredients for the final build. This makes sense from a technical perspective (disease innoculations are typically made from samples of the very disease they are designed to prevent), and from an economic perspective (innoculations will be somewhat expensive, and it will give CMs something to sell).

The effectiveness of the innoculation will be related to the potency of the disease component. Not necessarily 1 to 1, butthe better the disease component was, the better the innoculation will be at preventing disease. Perhaps 30% of the disease component as a base, with additional resistance being added through experimentation. Similarly, the duration will be some multiple of the duration of the disease pack used.

Finally, just as with buffs, you lose your innoculation when you die and are rezzed or cloned.

This is a pretty good idea. It would not necassarily have to take disease packs to do it, I think just CM components would be good enough, but yes ome kind of interaction between doctors and CMs going to the other direction would be nice.

This idea is interesting. Having to use disease packs to make the innoculations would (as stated earlier) give CM's something to sell but also force professions to be interdenpendant. The new doc fire blankets require cloth made by a novice tailor, so making docs need disease packs for the innoculation packs would be a resonable compermise in my opinion.

well, this is what makes the most sense to me.

Eating a Ham sandwich, or whatever the hell random hunk of chow the Devs decided would correspond to disease resistance, doesn't make nearly as much sense as an innoculation administered by a doctor.

I want a ham sandwich.

Seriously though, I think this is a great idea.

I think there needs to be more discussion in regards to whether these innoculations require a full disease pack, or a set of CM components, though.

To be truthful, if they require disease packs, it would probably be common for CMs to use their diseases down to 1 use remaining, and then sell/donate them to the local doctor, unless there is some forethought (snicker) on the Devs part. This way you would get full use out of the disease pack, and still can pass them on for some kind of return.

I prefer the component idea to the full pack idea. Though the full packs would garner a higher price...

Interesting observation about using the disease packs, but I think the game mechanic would make that difficult, if you needed 2 identical disease packs for one innoculation pack. Drs. would want to get crates of disease packs from CMs, not a smattering of random, mostly used up disease packs. It would take too long.

I love the idea! It would be great if they added a new component that only CM's can make that can be used by Docs in making innoculations - similiar to the BE relationship with tailors.

You could perhaps have basic components at crafting Novice/1/2 and advanced components at 3/4/Master. This would slightly nerf PVP for CM's while making them a stronger crafting class. This also would have the added side effect of Not Nerfing PVE, where it seems like we are weak enough.
