Thread: Can some combat medics give me an idea...

...of this template is even worth it. Im currently a master heavy swordsman and I love it, I solo nightsisters, tough mobs, whatever. Regardless it's just plain fun. So now I am trying to figure out what to do with my skill pts, and couldnt decide between doc, rifleman, or combat medic. I think I have come up with something that would be good, but I need some input from combat medics out there to know if its even worth it, or if I should just master doc instead...


Master Heavy Swordsman

Combat Medic 3/0/0/4

Doctor 4/0/0/0


That will give me combat med use +75, and I can apply disease and poison. It will also give me added defense with doctor being able to cure poison, disease, and heal states. Plus, I get a little bit of melee and ranged defense bonus from ranged support i-iv, and some terrain negotiation/burst run from combat medic. I just am trying to add a bit of defense and some sort of ranged attack/dot to help myself out. Can I throw decent poisons with this?

Don't do it, go Doc or something. CM is dabble unfriendly. Your effectiveness won't be that good and neither will your range.

Your range and damage would be 3/4 of that a master CM's would be. Besides that, you would not be able to use area C DoTs, and would throw stims VERY slowly, meaning the chance to stack would be unlikely. Otherwise, it is up to you. My personal opinion is you would be better off being a master Swordsman/master Doc.

Edit: If burstrun and TN are factors, it would bethe samecost skill point wise to not take the marksman skills needed for CM and get 4/0/0/0 scout instead.

I've been a 4-3-0-4 CM for a good long time... With a nyax necklace and a decent cm effectiveness tape under my armor, I have roughly 88 effectiveness instead of 100 -- not a huge reduction in damage. The range reduction hurts slightly more -- I can throw a pack with 31 range roughly 52m. Of course, that's farther than I can shoot my gun, so it works...


Not having any of the speed line may be problematic, especially as you want to have some doctor... CM healing actions function on the same timer as doc actions -- so if it takes you 5 or 6 seconds between poisons, it will also take 5 or 6 seconds after throwing a poison before you can heal one (or heal damage). That's a problem if you're into PvP (and if you're not, don't be a combat medic...).


It is possible, by the way, to use Area poison Cs at xxx4 cm -- but they have to be experimented heavily for med use... The area Cs that I'm currently using have roughly 150 effect and 110 potency...


Also, (and now I'm speaking as a doctor) poison and disease cure Cs have roughly 90 med use... Although a well made cure B will cure just about any poison you encounter, a well made cure C will cure 2 or 3 well made poisons in one application...



Hmm... If I didn't support myself selling doc meds, I'd be a 4-4-4-0 doc, 4-3-0-4 cm, and 4-0-0-4 rifleman... That would just be cruel...

4/0/0/0 doc, dont you only have 60 med use? I dont remember offhand, but could you even use B cure packs with that low of a med use? cure packs now only exp for ease of use dont do much.I could understand going 4/4/0/4 in CM, with effectiveness tapes, you could hit 100 I believe in effectiveness, giving you master bonuses to range and effectiveness.. I swear to god man, try out master doc, master CM, you will be a little annoyed in pve with your inability to kill anything quickly, but your pvp skills will be set up perfectly to send you a ton of whining tell's..

Med use and CM use tapes do not, nor ever will work, so those wont help you.. If they did, you could use ranged stims with no medic with a CM use +25 tape...


basically, if your effectiveness is 100, you multiply the effectiveness listed on the pack by 2, and you have your damage. For range, it is something like 1.2 at box 1, 1.4 at box 2, 1.6 at box 3, and 1.75 at box 4 in the range line, and 2 at master.. (someone else can give exact numbers, but those give you the general idea.) You would take the range on the pack, and multiply it by thatfactor to find out your max range. Our ability to target an unhealable stat makes any other profession except rifleman the envy of us. Any other blather about us being overpowered always comes back to this point. We pick our stat to damage, so people hate us. Heck, half the riflemen dropped tkm or fencer to pick up cm to enhance their rifle's ability. Rifleman/CM is a real offensive stacker, that cut's right thru any type of defensive stacker..

I have +22 ranged healing speed, I actually can throw again, and get the system message, before the throwing animation is complete..


Make yourself a bunch of combat med's you will be able to use with your loss of master, and dump the crafting line, and the top 2 boxes of the speed line, and you can use 60 or lesser med use cure packs adding 4/0/0/0 doc. That is about the best you can do, and still keep MR.

My area B poisons have 148 effectiveness 119 potency...using less resources. It is possible to experiment them down that far, but why bother?

True enough Pahdbacca, my area Bs are just as good as my area Cs... But they stack.


Now that everyone has 3k+ mind all the time, I want to get at least 2poisons on everyone I'm fighting...


And I gain some useful skills with the points that I didn't spend to master combat medic...

To be honest, I would be perfectly happy just being a master swordsman. I dont intend on relying on doc or combat medic as my primary classes for the character. But for taking out say a Krayt or Axkva Min, I would imagine tossing a poison and disease ont he mind before I start whacking away at it, since they are heavy armor, would help considerably. And in PvP if I was being kited, I could toss a poison on their mind and run outside their range or behind a wall, if they want me, they can come get me. I could go 3/0/0/0 in doc instead and get 4/0/0/4 in combat medic if the +25 effectiveness makes a big difference. What is the equation for poisons when thrown? How does effectiveness play into it?

This is a great post...Im currently master cm/master rifleman on one of my alt and was just thinking about redoing my character to be able to heal disease/poison and stat since i pvp often. Was just playing with the calculator a bit ago trying to figure it all out.


I happen to have some nice effect tapes and plates as well as ranged healing speed. I have a +10 at that. Also have some nice med use ones. Just trying to figure out what the best one would be and would I want to drop master rifleman <gulp>. Still trying to figure it out but good input so far.


I'm pretty confident that you can get a master cm to make some custom poisons and stuff for you to be able to use area c's if you can get +25 points, effect may be lower but at least you can stack b and c.

I just imagine being able to remove disease/poison/state and being able to apply it. Than finish off with rifleman mind shot. :-)
