does anyone know which is better and why?

There is no such thing as better, they are both very different. It depends on what your goals are and what you want to do.

If you want PvP, go combat medic, if you just want to heal your friends on hunts, go hybrid doctor/CM. If you just want to heal yourself, go Doctor.

note: The general consensus is, If you want to go CM, you really should go all the way. Just taking one or two skills probably will not get you anything usefull.

Well, I'll speak from experience. I went toe-to-toe 1on1 pvp just yesterday with a master doc. BEST FIGHT EVER. I won, but only because I had a pistol and could stay in his face.

We both had jack for mind left over, buthis rifle managed to steal just enough to tip the scales. (:

Doc's rock in PvP with proper application, and they are invaluable in PvE...I think it will be determined solely on your playing style.

I want to master 2 advanced professions. I'm mastering carbineer and making a switch from scout/ranger to medic/combat medic.

I want to be of use to my friends in hunts. Combat medic gives me ranged stims, poisions and TERRAIN NAVIGATION BONUSES which doctor doesn't. I'm a master scout and I'm used to running fast and that is what tipped the scales for me. Besides our PA already has a master doc
