Combat Medic Archive

Not too familiar with how your Ranged disease or poison, whichever is used mainly in pvp, but what are the defense mods it checks against for you to have a successful apply on someone? Does it check against that players ranged defense mod, which would make sense, so it probably does not considering a lotof things in the game.So im guessing we have to have enhanced clothes or modded items for the only defense?
