Thread: beating a dead horse (a doc wants to know your opinions about poision)

Hello CMs, I mean no offense, I would just like to get some honest opinions about poision.

Let me start of by saying I dont thing that your class needs a nerf.

but I would also like to share a tale, I am a master doc, and I take much pride in getting only the highest quality resources, and only using the best advanced components for my meds. Today, I was involved in a PvP battle and was mind poisioned by a CM. I reacted with lightning reflexes, and hit my hotkey for the antidote: "your poision has decreased" I hit it again "your poision has decreased" I hit it again "you do not have enugh mind pool points for this action" (keep in mind that since I am a doc, I loaded all my blue HAMs) not only was I unable to heal myself, but I never even got a chance to heal my group members, we were all DBd at the enemy's leasure.

so, what gives? a master doc, with an advanced poision antidote B (AKA the best antidote in the game) can't heal anyone if he is poisioned. To me this hardly seems ballanced, but then again, I can only see this from a doctor's perspective.

yes I know your difficulties in making them, but I counter with the fact that docs are in the exact same boat.

yes I know that it dosnt work all the time, but when it does, there is nothing that can be done in defence of it.

I gave you my opinion, and I hope I did not bring offense with it. now, I would like to hear yours. Thanks

why would a cure poison B advanced or not be better than a Cure poison C?

ok...you got me confused...a doctor should get a cure poison C schematic when they train the master box. You stated you were a master doc in your post, so why are you not using the C cure to take out the level C poisons that ALL CM's use? At any ratefrom the tests that I have done with Zarlor on TC, and the test that was posted by a fellow CMon this board when the boost to cures hit live, any decent cure B will knock out a C poison in 2 applications unless A) the cure pack was not experimented ontherefore it is not a decent cure B or B) The poison that hit you was above and beyond what can normally be made by a CM

Cure B is not the best cure to my knowledge, I could be wrong and it wouldn't be the first time. If I am wrong, please enlighten me as to why the cure B is better than a Cure C

Hmm, Ill have to go check on it, but Im pretty sure all we have are the Bs. when I make anything, I make it near my food and chem station, and I dont even look at making anything that is not the highest in its class of meds.

I am a master Doc, and when it comes to my meds, I dont play around, full experimintation, only the best components, and only the best resources, I can promise you that it couldn't even compare to what the poisions were doing. 3 shots minimum to counter.

you should have a recipe for a level C cure but it will only show when you are near a personal crafting station, the public stations in the cities won't cut it. your D and E stims and C + wound packswill only show when your near the personal crafting station as well.

Hi, decided to do some extensive testing after this patch, here are the results. (Thanks Sengran for assisting me)

I made the following cure poison packs, using an 184 adv Liq sus, and a 13charge/16 power ABEC.

resources used were 996 OQ 487 PE flowers, 990OQ inert gas.

C pack experimented to 54% single mind - 2 uses single health - 2 uses mind aoe - 1 use to cure

C pack experimented to 80% same as abovereduced 1st tick to 119

C pack experimented to 21% same as above reduced 1st tick to 157

B pack experimented to 80% same as above reduced 1st tick to 164

A pack experimented to 80% same as above reduced 1st tick to 175

poisons used for the test.

C single mind poison - ticked at 545 dmg

C single health poison - ticked at 499 dmg

C AOE mind poison - ticked at 380 dmg

i tried 1 disease,effect 87, with a 71% experimented cure disease C - cured it in one use

Thought and opinions?

looking over this test the C cures are underpowered and the A cures are over powered. Also after reviewing Zarlors posts on the Doctor board it is something he is going to take up with the dev.

At the risk of being boring, I will repeat the response I posted to the last thread like this:

Keep poisons the way they are.

Balance them with inocculations by doctors before the battle. These would raise a toon's poison/disease resists.

Balance them with ABC gear (anti-bio/chemical) made by armorsmiths. These wouldchange the resists of the toon wearing it.

Don't decrease the power of a class. Enhance the power of others to match it.

If they decrease poisions or increase defence to them they might as well take the cm out of the game as it is, a cm poision gets resisted easily and has a dps of around 50-60. What are they going to lower it to 20-30 dps? Hell i can do more damage than that with a cdef and no specials. CM's and there abilites need ot enhanced if anything, this game does not revolve around pvp, its pure and simple, in pve poisions are already useless beyond belief, and if they do change cm cus of all the doc complaints and i really hope doc buffs only go up to 500 not 2k!!!

Ya know guys, I really wish we could get byond this feeble DPS argument. It's worthless.

Even among normal combat types balance arguments relying upon DPS in the presence of specials like KD (now on timer) or blindness which affect targetting is just...at best...inconclusive.

For us DPS is a hollow argument not only because AOE gives us a multiplier, but on singles because we dont' have to just stand there and slug it out.

Most good MCMs are gonna get LOS to sling their poison and duck behind corners to prevent LOS reprisals while they wait for their DOT to take effect.

A simple factoid of DPS doesn't factor that in the tactical advanges of DOTs. We cannot and should not have a DPS anywhere near other classes in PvP. If this DPS argument is for PvE, then separate the arguments, please. We have every right to push for a delineation of our powers between the two, as they exist in every other class.
