Hey all.
I am new to CM but not new to the game or combat, both PvP and PvE. I've been playing my CM for about a week now and I'd like some input or advice for using him in high end content. The thing which peturbs me more than anything is the "heal hate" behavior high level mobs' AI exhibit. Examples: Going down the mydryyyl caverns I would occasionally hit my bacta spray enhancers to keep my group's ham bars nice and full. Immediately after doing so the spider guys down there got smart and decided it was time to play "Smear the CM". In another instance I was supporting a base raid upon a PvP target. If any of you have ever done this, you know that the level 90+ NPCs the base spawn are enough to double the firepower of any PC defenders that are around. So I'm using my bacta spray macro, when all of a sudden the NPCs got wise and said, "Hey, look at all these jedis, wait a minute...is that a CM over there?" and proceeded to pound me into the ground.
Now I enjoy a challenge as much as the next guy. It's one of the reasons why I like the CU much more. But I think there should be a line between "challenging" and "totally ineffective" and as I see it now, some of my CM skills are "totally ineffective" in high end content simply because one bacta spray is not worth drawing all the aggro from the tanks onto me and the rest of the ranged guys.
Some of you might say, "well duhhhh....don't use bacta spray or anything else until the heat is off." But I would say to that, why have those skills at all if they can't be used when it's crunch time? Isn't that the essence of combat medic? The #1 profession in keeping a group alive? If not in crunch time, should I only use them when the guild decides to take a leisurely stroll to kill some kreetles? Pffft, no thanks!
Please don't take this as whining, since like I said, I enjoy a game which is challenging. I just don't enjoy a system where I look up at my skill/toolbars and say, "No, don't use that one, not that one either, or that one."
Opinions?
P.S. Yeah, I use the best equipment in PSGs, armor, enhancers, weapons etc. so I'm no noob complaining because I've got crummy equipment.

i have this same problem in the DWB. although we have learned from it. dont heal anyone except yourself. when they go down, you drag them away and rez them so they get back into the fight.

when i say they, i mean members of your crew. and as agonizing as it sounds to watch people die (because that goes against just about everything we know) you can get much farther in the high lvl mob areas.

had the same problems at DWB last night... ended up that our mdef with a rez arm had to rez me, the cm, every other mob so i could rez everone else.
next time i think i'll try a self heal macro to make sure i keep myself going.

I love the hate system. It isn't really the problem it used to be and in solo fights I can handle almost anything in the game anyway. The best part is now the group has to look out for the healer, because when we die, they die ![]()
I love watching jedi get killed by krayts and such while I sit there and solo them no problem as a cm/doc. I am the turret tank for our group these days, and we can sit at close range and blow turrets with ease. We have the ability to out heal most damage dealt out in pve, and in pvp we can be even better. (you want a hate system, see how many ppl come after me in a pvp fight) lol

bacta spray is the uber taunt to hold agro.
its an area, and can heal for thousands on multipls ppl at once. since mobs consider group heals as mob damage, they love you.
use shot and toss, and you will draw a lot less ag.
