Thread: Using Disease in PvE?

Has anyone spent any time experimenting on using Disease's on the 6 subcatagories in the HAM, for example using a Focus Disease? I am curious if anyone has any findings on the effectiveness of using these in PvE. I only really hear people talk about using them on the 3 main HAM bars. What impact do they have on a target like a Krayt Dragon or a Night Sister Elder?

I understand Disease on the 3 HAM pools is a waste for the most part in PvE. My question is if you disease one or more of the 6 sub HAM pools does it have any negative effect on the creature? My thinking here is that it could prove to be usefull in that it might prevent them from being able to do special moves. Just a thought I have not tested this at all and was curious if anyone else had.

How do these Diseases effect PvP combat? Is it worth while to use Disease on the 6 sub HAM pools? Other then it taking longer for them to rejoin the battle and having to spend longer periods of time getting their wounds healed does it provide any benifit?

I have never found disease to be all that usefull in PvE. You are usually looking to kill something that won't come back,so I focus on poisons. Disease may seem the same, but its not. Once the thing is dead, it will respawn at 100%. Thats why disease is more usefull in PvP. Players that are resurrected have all their wounds unless they go to a camp/med center and are healed (impractical in the middle of a battle).

I dont use disease in PvE for most things do to the amount of time between ticks , and the limited dmg it acually does against something like a krayt dragon. poison would work better, though I find even that is bad in PvE.

I used in one krayt hunt just to get the combat XP

I use Diseases on big targets, (like Krayt) because they stack.

When you're looking at 5mins+ for a kill, why do your normal Poison (and Area Poison) damage alone, when you can do an extra 50% more by slapping on a Disease (and Area Disease).

Yes, the disease packs tick for about 60-70% of the poisons value, but thats still worth swinging my arm over twice for...

Big Target PvE:

Throw Single-Target Poison
Throw Area Poison
Throw Single-Target Disease
Throw Area Disease

(reapply any that failed to stick, if required)

Then concentrate on staying alive.

I've not tried poisoning or diseasing secondary stats in PvE. I'd say it would probably only be worth it on really big targets like the Krayt...

As far as I know, NPC's or MoBs don't have secondary stats. Ever shot a gubur and waited to see if it's health bar would heal itself over time? It doesn't. Same with action or mind. So I don't see how they can have secondaries. If you really want to disease something, go for the health, action or mind pool. But frankly, your poisons are better for this. And you won't need to gather up some insect meat to make poisons. God I miss not having harvesting skills.

Disease is great for fighting mobs that flyaway when their hp gets low. Just as a Poison/Disease combo will incap a player, it kills a mob. so throw that disease at them, and when it flys away you know it won't be comming back.

It is good for stormtroopers too, no need to chase him, just wait till he dies about 200 meters out

You stack your poisons and diseases on creatures and as far as I have experienced, it will incap them. As far as the secondary's are concerned, use them in PvP cause a player will not notice the effect on his HAM bar, then if you poison and disease the secondary's he will incap and not know why.
