Just an idea... but by using /diagnose you can find out exactly how much wounds you'll have to heal and would be able to charge a price for it based on that.

Say you do 2 cr per wound... Rude Player X walks in and demands healing. You do /diagnose to find out they have 100 Health wounds 40 stamina 30 strength 130 action 100 constitution and 70 quickness. Looks like 470 wounds, you can tell em 940 cr as a fee upfront. They complain about it, then you can tell em to go find another medic or sit in a scout camp all day to heal. And then give em a reminder on how cloning when you go to a new area will save them many wounds.

Of course, I don't sit in the med center any more.... too many rude players for my taste. Just a possible suggestion for fellow medics out there.

You know, last week I would have agreed with you.

But something happened this weekend. I went back to the Med-Center (don't ask me why), and I actually made some decent tips.

Nothing spectacular, but enough to pay for my harvesters, with a little left over. I didn't have to run destroy missions at all.

Maybe this was just a fluke; but maybe we're getting through to people that med-packs==credits.

I have found the Med Centers to be fun. Most people tip to some extent when I heal them. I've only run into one rude individual running in yelling "HEAL ME," just ignored him and moved on.

Seems most people appreciate the heals and tip accordingly.

Myrick, I just posted this same idea on the Chilastra board. In my opinion, the /diagnose command will allow medics to become more like artisans. We will now be able to charge up front for our services.

Example: Patient walks in and asks for healing. You do /diagnose and find that he/she needs has a total of 600 wounds. You quote price of 2 credits per wound, so 1200 for a full heal. Patient pays up front and you heal them fully.

There are, of course, some assumptions here. First, a vast majority of medics will have to use this method in order for it to work. Also, medics will have to respect other medic's patients and not jump in for a heal mid-way thru. (If they do, they won't get any money anyway). It DOES allow for competition as another medic may try to undercut your price..which is what the market is all about.

Anyway, it helps us healer types to actually put a price on a service...IF we use it that way. And I for one, sincerely hope we do.
