I'm not a medical profession, and was hoping you guys could offer up some insights and compare the usefulness of Doctor & Combat Medic- specifically their healing abilities. For example, do the Combat Medic stims heal for as much as the Doctor stims? Who can use their medications faster? I'm just trying to compare the two professions, since I'm wondering which would be most useful to my small team of warriors. Thanks! ~J

To me, the biggest difference fundamentally between the Combat Medic and Doctor is that Doctor is good pretty much wherever you get it. On the other hand, Combat Medic is not incredibly good unless you get the Master rank.

As for your questions, as far as I've noticed, Ranged Stims heal for the same as normal stims of comparable damage, the exception being Ranged StimAs, which are pretty much close to the power of a normal StimB. Combat Medic is way better at healing in a combat situation (hence the name) with their Area Stims, which are of comparable power tonormal StimBs, Cs, and Ds and can effect an area of around 24 meters of radius. They also get Poisons and Disease which are all pretty good for combat and PvP (specifically).

On the other hand, Doctors can heal pretty much any number of wounds in one pop. Most I've ever gotten was a wound heal of 320, but I've not seen prospective healees with higher wounds. They also get the Revive ability which is also very good on medium-to-long hunts. Especially when you're in the wilds of middle of nowhere. Finally, and perhaps most importantly are the Enhance Packs. Being able to buff any and all Action and Health-related stats for around +2500 for three hours at Master Doctor (depending on resources). This can and does make anyone a walking combat god. Tacked on to the end, you can make really good StimBs that you can sell for a lot of money to Bounty Hunters and similar folks with only Novice Medic.

Personally, after Mastering both classes... I still really can't choose. I like them both and once my guild gets some more Doctors and CMs, I'm going to have to drop one so I can snag some more combat skills. Basically, it boils down to this: They're both incredible support classes that are really useful at Master. The difference being that Combat Medic is good during the battle and Doctor is good after the battle's over.

I'm glad this question was raised. I'm a Doctor/Bio-Engineer and have been thinking about giving up my Doctor skills for Combat Medic. No one seems to be able to tell me the benefit of one Medic skill over the other. My small group goes on many different hunts during the week.........and I can see the benefit of being a CM. However, I see many benefits of being a Doctor as well..............

Keep the comments coming folks...........I'm learning alot!

I can't really add much more info, from my own expreince I can say CM is alot of work especialy

on large groups when you have to monitor all the time the lives of your buddies and choose which

stims to usefor best results.

But in the end it's really satisfing!

What really differentiates Docs and CMs is the Area/Ranged heals, and the ability to buff stats.

When you get down to it, with good resources, a CM heal can heal for just about as much as a Doctor stim, however a CMs home is in the field, doing ranged and ranged AOE heals, whereas a Doc is a better pre-fight medic.

I'm making AOE Cs with a base heal of 689. I can toss 'em 40m, and their radius is 30m.
That's an effective 1600-1900 damage heal, depending on the inherent randomness of the healing amount.
My Ranged Ds come out to a base of 698, which is about 1600-2000 heal, 45m range.

I also make my own subcomponents, so a Master Doc/CM, or a CM with a Master Doc buddy could get numbers even better than that. My resources are also good, but not GOOD.

I can pop out stim Ds for about 700 base heal as well, but a Doc with Stim Es can get their base heal to about 800. Outside of pets, and heavily Master Doc buffed players, you don't need to heal that much.

I was main healer on a Krayt Dragon hunt tonight, and my AOE Cs served quite well.

Yes, as a matter of fact the area stim-As I've been building (with adv. liquids) are upwards of 300 effectiveness. I've been hanging out at the cantina to gain medical XP, and I can say that I've very rarely had one of my area-stim A's NOT heal all the entertainer's action up all the way from 3/4 down.

I just got expert crafting, and I haven't made any area B's yet. For my applications, I don't really see the need. For a big hunting party, B's and C's could be incredible!

Are AOE heals/stims as potent as regular stims?
