I have all the skills for CM except the last two crafting levels. I've heard of grinding and macros but dont really understand them. Do I have to sit for hours crafting things I dont need in order to get the xp to progress to master? I feel I am missing something. If thats the way it is -- please let me know.

Basically the answer is Yes. Just craft away using practice.

Another way is to play the game, and suddenly find that you qualify. Grinding sucks all the fun out of the game.

I ask as before. What's the point of being a master if you didn't have fun on the way there?

Grind only if you are close of a new level and absolutly need it now.

If you play the gameand go in combat or hunt you will get XP while having fun.

Hi

Dont listen to all those roleplayers about having fun....

Grinding yes is difficult but nescessary. When I have said this it is much much easier to get to master Combat medic than e.g. Weaponsmith, even if you had a grind schematic that gave you twice the xp per grind.

If you `play` the game you will see youre maxed in healing xp before your even close to third box in craft, as one area heal easily gives you 500-1000 heal xp while in group. 15 dosed equal 7.5 per area A stim.

What you grind depends on how much money you have and resources avaiable.

Biological effect controller if you have alot of crap material

Resilience compound 12 reactive gas+12 radioactive is what i used

advanced schematics there are 2 schematic with 48 and 56 resources if youre lucky.

Oh and the ppl stating that it no fun at your goal , but the fun is getting there, well they are basically correct.

However I as pistoleer know its a long way til master in that profession really want the support of the combat medic, and as a master youre usefull and having fun in PvP etc, and you dont have the cure wounds unless in a group. So basically I think there are no downside in being master compared to the road getting there.

In weaponcrafting its opposite its the difficulties that is fun. When youre a master and have 1million creds, 3 PA deeds, 4 full composite sliced armor etc where is the fun?

As CM the fun lies in playing as a master, in PvE and PvP

I much enjoy playing this class as it is skill dependent meaning the individual CM decides how good they are based on playing skills etc.

And who else is left alone by the Bounty hunter in PvP, they wont start the fight as they know we will both die....

y.t.

My crafting exp outran my medical exp when I was working towards master medic, but once you get the big Stims and woundpacks (which incidentally have lots of charges), you crafting exp will seriously lag your medical exp. Which leave you with 3 choices -

1) Don't sweat it - your crafting exp will eventually catch up

2) Grind for hours. Optimally, you can get about 25K crafting an hour.

3) Grind when you have downtime

Option 1 works, but for a while you will have the ability to use things like Enhance-Ds (if you're a doctor), but you won't be able to make them. Kind of stinks.

Option 2 is just too painful.

Option 3 is the path I follow. Have 8 minutes to wait for a shuttle? Craft grind. Your mates are waiting in a camp to rest their mind. Craft grind. You're sitting in a med center healing wounds, but you have a 20 second pause in between heals? Grind out 3 items. If you make the grinding part of your regular play, it's not nearly as painful. Plus, the non-crafting side and crafting will stay relatively close.

Seriously, this is what I do. If I am on one of the starting planets, I'll even walk and craft at the same time since there are few truly dangerous things there now (except those darn maulers....)

So the extra xp from experimentation doesn't matter?

I thought that ranged stim's take advanced biological controllers....so could I start grinding those out now while at shuttle...etc while waiting for cm....I still need to get my master in medic but if it uses same xp for crafting CM as when crafting in normal medic I will start now.

If you have space to store all those individual advanced BECs...

Here's what I do - I keep a couple of factory crates of components on me for everything that potentially requires factory components (right now at less-than-master that means advanced BECs and advanced liquid suspensions). I only use these when I am making something that requires them (i.e. an area stim) or I'm in a big hurry or if I want the highest quality final assembly (since my factory created components are as good as I can make them at the time). I sometimes carry a factory crate of other components (advanced solid delivery or CDRM) in case I need to create something in a hurry or of very high quality (poisons for PvP or enhance packs, for example)

For non-hurried crafting, I hand craft the sub-components, experimenting when I'm worried about quality and not experimenting when I'm notterribly concernedabout quality (i.e. stims or wound packs).

For grinding, I create everything in practice mode, including advanced components. Saving them sounds good, but I don't have the inventory and I can always create more when I do need them (for even more crafting exp).

Once I have the crafting exp, everything is going to factory crates. I will carry supplies of some of the raw resources around (how much depends on whether insurance is on or off) in case I need to craft something ina pinch, but in general, everything will be factory created for the highest quality and lowest inventory requirements.

I also obtained Toxicologist mostly by grinding. The best part is now I let my factory do all of my dirty work.

It wasn't very much fun grinding, but I never did it just sitting in a corner. That would have destroyed the game for me.

I'd take two destory missions (on Tatooine), grind while running to my first waypoint, do the mission, grind on my way to the second waypoint, do the 2nd mission, and grind all the way back to the mission terminal. I needed 3 crafting stations (although I could get backed up pretty easily, but never for too long) to do this, and a bunch of crappy materials. I also used practice mode to get the most out of it.

I also didn't do this every single time I logged on, just once in a while when I needed the money from missions.

You also couldn't do this on the advanced planets since there's too many aggro's. On Tatooine/Bestine, it works great. Any of the starting planets should work just as well.

I just got combat Medic last night and I had enough crafting xp for the first 3 levels of it but not enough healing xp for more than 1 level in any skill. I'm a master doctor and haven't done a grind at all since I was a medic. That's all just factory xp, I didn't really make anything by hand. I run lots of factories though.
