I am trying to read up on the boards and learn things, but I know that many of you are probably at work trolling the boards searching for something to do. If there is a Master Doc/Master CM who would like to share their tricks of the trade or an expert who knows several posts who could help me out, I would appreciate it.

The idea is that I would like this thread to be a discussion about how to really play your master doc/master CM well in a PVP group. I am thinking that with the GCW changes and upcoming revamp that Master Doc/CM could be a very desired support professions in a group. I primarily want to keep my mates healed up and in the battle making my group stronger, but I am not against discussion of using poison and diseases to turn the course of the battle either.

I was hoping to get such information as what to keep in your inventory in terms of medicines, stims, poisons, diseases as well as toolbar configuations and information on generally how to play this template well and be as effective as possible.

I havent really seen a thread focused on how to play this template most effectively, althouh there may be a good thread out there regarding this that I have not found.

For those of you who are bored at work and want to share your expertise I appreciate your input. For those who dont feel like posting on the subject and get irritated by such requests, you dont have to post here. I wanted this to be a friendly compilation for players like me to refer too in playing the ultimate support template.

I have been a doc for a long time, and I just mastered CM which I have never played before. I did not want to play CM because I want to be FOTM or any kind of uber template, but for the support role which it implies.

Thanks

I think beyond the equipment, the tactics are also important.

My experience a while back playing CM/Doc was that people would often behave differently around, knowing that I could heal mind, etc....that in the mid

to long run mind wounds destroyed me and made my game play much harder. You will have to be willing to let people incap by mind if they abuse your services, just get ready to drag them/res them if they do die.

Playing a support role takes a very special mind set, and you have to accept up front that you won't be in on the leet loot a lot of the time....in addition,

you see how players are performing. You should be able to handle HA stat buffs so people's specials don't kill them. Make sure that if you see

someone taking a lot of mind damage that you get them to take the proper food/drink/music buffs to keep them alive. Most veteran players (which means most players now) understand that and are used to keeping their mind up....

Also, be sure that your costs are covered and that includes making a profit on your time. Another profession that may help is having a squad leader along, they have the ability to spread wounds throughout a hunting party. If you have to take a lot of mind wounds healing other's minds, this may really help you last longer. Hopefully with the upcoming CURB these issues will be improved.

Finally, ensure the tanks understand the importance of using taunt and getting agro off of you (for high level PvE).You have no defenses, no mitigation, and will last about 3 mS if a Krayt or NS elder decides you look tasty. You have to watch out for yourself 1st, because you are the safety net for your group.

I have two panes setup, one for me as just a healer with CM support and one with CM offensive (all types of poisons and stuff) with healing support. Macros are your friend, the ones that heal a bunch of stats at the same time, so you don't have to full your toolbar with stuff you don't need.

Stun armor helmet is your friend, once they figure you out they are coming after you hard, I'm almost always the first one to die always becuase in my Galaxy they hate my stuff. Kitting is also your best friend, those TKMs will always try to KD you and ocne that happens it's over unless you have support to kill the other guy first.

I can go on for hours let me know if you have specific questions, I had this template since November 2003.

Get used to running. With such low defenses, the only way to stay alive is to kite. Once your enemies have identified you (and for some of us, that's as soon as we show up for a fight), you will become their first target. I prefer to unequip my weapons (I have carbines 4, but only use them for PVE or 1 on 1 PVP) to avoid having any combat delay affect my healing actions. I can't do any real damage with my carbines anyway, so I might as well not be slowed down. A doc/cm probably has to be the single most prepared person on the battlefield. Of all the small changes that have been made lately, I think the increased inventory space affected me the most.I carry more meds and DoTs than I could list. Find a toolbar setup that works for you, and become very familiar with where everything is. It's best to have poisons and disease with high potency to get through resist buffs, and a second set with high effectiveness. If I manage to stay alive long enough, I get the high potency stuff to stick, then try to get the high effectiveness poisons to work.

Generally though, I concentrate on my healing role. Group coordination is key if you want to be effective as a healer. If your group doesn't have a squad leader, then you should be the group leader so that you are easy to find. DoT removal is one of your biggest jobs. Area cures are great, but always have some strong single cures ready. In big fights, area cures can have lag issues. As for mind healing, I use it pretty freely when I have dancer and musician buffs and a couple of brandies in me. My armor encumberance is quite high, so wounds to focus and willpower are limited.
