I am really trying to learn this new system, but so far, I hate it. I feel that being a MCM/MD in SWG is like playing a Mage in a downgraded form of EverQuest 2.


This is what I've gathered from this new system.


1) Timer and Re-Use Timer. The Timer system on the icons hurt the healing process. As soon as you use Bacta Spray/Toss, not only do you have to wait for the Re-Use Timer, but you also have to wait for the Timer on the other icons to go through their cycle. I found out that this "Timer" hurts when you are trying to heal your group. By the time you are able to use a heal, some of the group members are close to nothing on their Health Bar. The healing timer is much slower than the old combat system, even when you are a MCM/MD.


2) If you use Bacta Spray, be aware that you will lure the mobs your way. For some reason, just like in EQ2, when you use an area heal, those mobs will come at you. Next thing you are doing is running for your life. I also found out that Bacta Spray is a waste and it really doesn't heal the group much. When its used, its like you casted a spell.


3) Be careful when you cast your "spells", if you are too close to a creature when you hit them, you have a chance to catch fire. (Don't remember the new "spell").I found this out on Dantooine when I hit them with disease(?). When I did an area heal, the creatures came at me, and the next thing I knew, I was on fire, and my Health was depleting fast.


4) Terrain Negotation is gone from the CM Profession. I guess now if you want it, you will have to relinquish 28 skill points to be equivalent to the old system.


5) Experience. The new system is awesome for "Medical"experience. The medical cap is no long 80,000, it is now 900,000 like the other profession. If you are in a group and constantly healing, it is really easy to earn medical experience.


Overall. Other than the easy grind of Medical Experience, I hate this new system. I used to love this game, but since the new combat system (not an upgrade), I've been really thinking about cancelling my accounts. However, I'm trying to give SWG some time to get the bugs out first.

I think you hate it because you don't understand it or just not used to it. Combat in a large group is MUCH more interactive and you have to make choices as to what you want to do with the timers in mind.


1) If more than 2 group members are badly hurt, AE heal. If one is too far out - what the heck is doing that far out any way? Fight like a group, no more solo grouping.


2) Healing draws aggro just like doing damage (actually moreso) - this requires your group to act as a team. Your tank (do you know what that is?) must keep aggro while the damage dealers and healers do their job. If you over do it and draw aggro from the tank - its your fault and the tanks will hate you for it because you're endangering the entire group.


3) Haven't seen this one yet.


4) It was removed to balance things out. Some things had to go. CM right now is a great profession! Adding in Terr. Neg. would just push it over the edge of unbalanced. Please try to see things in the scope of the bigger picture.
