Thread: Not a cry for nerf, Just wondering...

I was just wondering if you guys think that you are really balanced and nothing needs to be changed?


Some things I saw during a base defense that makes me believe you may be over-powered.


1. Ability to chuck poison or disease from water to avoid taking melee damage. I have seen this done many times.


2. The ability to take out the mind of 20+ defenders in about a minute with 2-3 CMs. Our minds were all buffed by a dancer and we were using brandy and Muon as well. Please don't say, "Well you should have had some doctors there." I am a doctor. As a doctor I could not keep my own mind healed let alone anyone else's. In a minute with all those buffs, my mind was all black except for 76 points.


3.The ability to attack outside of the 64m range. I think it is silly to think that you can throw something farther than someone can shoot you.


4. The ability to poison through walls or attack someone with an AOE outside a base and it poisons all his friends inside as well.



CM was never meant to be the crowd control profession but it has become that way in the GCW. To the point that they over-power everything else in a battle.

In fact most of the CMs I see never would consider helping to heal anyone because they are too busy chucking poison.


Please try not to flame. I am just trying to bring up some issues that I see and I want to get your thoughts on them. If you think I am wrong then please explain instead of saying I don't know what I am talking about. If you have sugestions on fixes those are great as well. Maybe if we can be constructive we can work this out and you won't have to listen to everyone always crying nerf on this board.

This is being looked at right now by the Devs. A bug of sorts that will probably be fixed soon.


Umm This is a bug and fixed on TC. Don't whine about it because it will be fixed in pub. 7


There is a Dev response to this. "CMs throw gasses which do not stay on one floor of a building but move up and down through a structure, through walls, and through doors.


I have been looking now for 4 months as to what dev/corospondent/official SOE representative said this. They never did it is assumed by non-cms that this is the case. There has been no official response saying that CMs are supposed to be a support class, but rather it is an enigma that can be both support and a frontline fighter at the same time.

yeah baby fight, fight, fight, fight. Every one of those 1000s of messages says exactly what my first post said. There are already posts like this on the first page of the CM forum. Usualy I spend at leaste an hour looking for answers in a given forum before posting a question. I don't mean to be rude but what I did for your post I have done 2 times every day for the past 3 months.I am sorry for calling you lazy but it seems you looked at large number of posts and decided to add another one instead of reading a few of them.

Thanks, didn't know it was a fix in the new pub.

That is if the chemical was thrown inside the building. I have seen CMs target someone outside the building and the AOE poisons all his friends inside as well. In hardened facility like bases though, poisons in the real world would not be able to pass through the walls from outside.

yes yes yes all bugs... did you know that people can shoot through walls as well as CM can throw through them, the proper place to voice your concerns is on the GCW forum as this is a GCW bug and not issue with just Combat medics

Ok sorry about the side tracking. You are right but I guess the buildings in the SW galaxy are kind or rickety or something.I happen to know a little about the engine that SWG was built on. It is roughly built on the backbone of an old game called 10six. Sony bought the game out and shut it down a while back and no one knew why untill SWG came out. Galaxies is far better than 10six ever was but much of the way the coding works is exactly the same. Such as the way the AoE stuff works. Basicaly AoE (circular)works in a cylander of a certain width and a certain height no matter what is between the blast and the edges of its burst. This works for poisons, heals, and grenades (but their radius isn't big enough to worry about). I can heal people inside a base with an area heal as well from the outside. It doesn't mean I agree with it but I also know that this particular problem had devs from 10six working on the same problem for 2 years and they never found a way to do it without totaly recoding the entire system. (we are talking millions of $ to fix the problem on this scale.) So the devs have to explain it away somehow. It isn't because they are lazy it is because it would create the need for a total redesign of AoE items.
