Thread: The Geonosian Dungeon Gave Me an Idea...

Today, I witnessed firsthand what kind of devastation can be reaped upon a group by a CM...at first, I was mad, till I came to this forum that is. I would VERY much like to work out a way to keep CM viable in PvP, but also keep them in range of a non-combat support class...and give them power that their skillpoints allowed.
I also remembered, that in the geonosian dungeon, you can loot a rebreather. It shields you from the poisons in the cave, but not CM type poison...but why not? This would be an INCREDIBLE idea to help balance CM. A craftable rebreather that gives immunity to poisons...a decay would have to be built in, or rechargable "filters" that you can put back into a rebreather when the current one is exhausted, or something like that. Make it a tailor/doctor or tailor/CM craftable thing, and not only do you add a way to counteract poisons, balance the class, and silence the nerfers, but you also add in a steady income stream for MCM's. It wouldnt make CM's worthless, but it would definatley balance them out 
Thoughts? Ideas?

yeah stackers would love this idea... not only are the unhitable but they'll also be immune to the only thing that can hit him... what a fantastic idea!

Why make CM's worthless? What would be the point in wasting all of the skill points on a profession JUST so you can throw ranged heals? I would expect some kind of combat out of it. Not COMPLETELY screw CM's like you propose.

nah it should not make u immun just give u a %wise decrase in damage per tick (wich should decrease as the breather goes down). Also give the brether low int and make poison wear it down (like a RL gasfilter). Say it start at 60-70% then goes down with the integrety goes down.
How does that sound?

Thats actualy what I meant. I didnt mean immunity...although thats what I said, I was (am) very sleep deprived 
Normal players do need some sort of defense against poison/disease...this would be a good idea.

I think something along these lines would be a great idea. After all Obiwan andwhat's his faceused them in ep1. How about this? :
All the time you are wearing the rebreather you are imune to disease or poison(depending on the type you use), but it has encumbrance to you're specials stats, and maybe it can only be used once(give crafters something to make).
Much more star warsy than a silly fire blanket

Grab some food and some bio-clothes with poison resist modifiers. It will do what you are asking
I would like to see some of these modifiers go up by 2-3% though. The reason is that you can get 3 pieces of clothing with the same modifier so 2% = 6% if you use 3 pieces of clothing. The food is effective against all but the most powerfull poisons.
My Pet idea though is a food that gives you total resistance for 4-6 ticks of poison then it wears off. This would give docs time to heal everyone who was using the food. Chefs are now the moneymakers of the game heh heh.

This rebreather idea sounds good, but there's already something out there that has the same affect, like the poster above me mentioned. I don't know how many times i get the message "%TT has resisted the effects!" because somebody's wearing a certain bio-E enhancement or eating certain foods. CM's are already getting the raw end of the bantha when it comes to PvP in the future, why make it worse?
