Combat Medic Archive
Thread: Bi-Weekly Question: What should we ask next?
Better, but just to nitpick, I think it has swung too far the other way.
I would edit it to be something like:
Due to the strength of stim B's and doctor buffs, dedicated healers who can heal health and action seem to have relatively littleimpactin combat. Furthermore, since we do not have state cures and our damage ignores the 75% reduction for PvP, it seems like we are being pushed into offensive role in PvP.
Here is how I would phrase the question:
There is a debate in the community as to what the intent of a combat medic is.Are we intended to be defensive "healers" (with our area stims), or offensive "chemical weapons experts" (with our poisons and diseases). Are we supposed to be "support characters" who's primary duty is to keep combatants alive and fighting at full performance, or "combat characters" who's primary duty is to be in the fray and dealing damage. We know that impressions are mercurial, and that opinions tomorrow can be much different than today. However, currently, what do the devs envision the role of a combat medic to be?
If we are "healers" and "support characters", how do you see us being different than medics and doctors whocurrently can be found fighting 5m away from riflemen and commandos on the front lines(especially as doctors can cure states and rez, which we can not)?
Note that we know that you can give an answer like "you are medics in combat" or "wait for the combat rebalance" which literally answers the question but avoids the underlying purpose of it, but would prefer you did not give that answer. A "we don't know what you are supposed to be" or "we can't say for ___ reason" would be more valued than an evasive "you are both" or "wait and see" answer.
