I don't think increasing cure speed would be a viable answer. It only means that even if the Doc could get in all the cures before a CM could get off another AoE poison, he would take a MASSIVE hit in mind. I think the Doc should probably take a bit more of a hit to the mind cost than the CM, but not 5 or 6 times that cost.

Again I reiterate, though, that I simply thing an AoE cure needs to be instated. Not necessarily that Docs need to have the skill (although it's a likely spot to provide an out of profession counter), CMs could have the skill instead, although if a CM got it I'd rather see it be a full Ranged AoE cure, not just a PB one.

Zarlor in my opinion a pure combat ch shouldnt have a very good chance to win against a Master BH or a very high bh (2/4/4/4 for example). If the master combat medic is also master pistoleer then the master cm +master pistoleer should have a very very good chance to defeat a master bh. but why should a pure combat medic win against a MAster BH with some medic skills. i tested it several times with a master cm of my guild and he wins nearly everytimr because he just need to hit me once with poison and run away or in a building or something like that and i become incapped. in my opinion all dots ingame are too strong in pvp. a fight should become more than just one hit. this includes that they need to balance ALL dots the torso shot from the bh and the flamethrower dot of the commando too. dont understand me wrong i dont want any nerfs but i think all dots need to be looked at.

sorry for my bad english

okk1980: I would suggest that your problem is tactics, not the power of DoTs. Besides any "real world", or real game as the case may be, test should probably not be one-on-one in most cases.

DoTs can be easily counteed wtih a Doc around. BHs are not the counter to most DoTs. Docs are.

For a BH point would be to use those BH skills to kite that CM. They can't do much to you from farther than 45m out (on average, althoughI know some of you have had luck with resources and advanced components and experimentation to get a farther range).

I actually as such I would expect that BH to successfully use such a tactic 60% of the time (and you'd use the same tactic on Commandos, BTW and I would expect that proer balance would also give a similar success rate to BH against the Commando.)

Of course a properly balanced character is going to give that BH some extra combat skills and probably some healing ablility, while it will give that CH some extra ranged weapons skills as well. In that case I would expect the odds to start evening out to 50/50 (although in truth I think the BH will still probably win out a bit more often.)

Zarlor: it really makes fun to discuss with you its doesnt seems to happen often in swg forum that people can discuss about their thoughts without to flame each other.

back to topic

i dont understand why eyeshot and poison attack cant/should'nt be compared? you said one throw cost ca 70 mind and it hits 50-400 every 8 seconds. (by the way how long does the poison status will last if you cant find a kind doctor ?). the mind ham cost for using Eyeshot is ca 100-150 with a scatter if you want to make ca 300-400 mind dmg ( if the target dont wear any helm, with helm 150-200 dmg) if u use another weapon you will reduce your ham costs but you will greatly decrease your dmg. poison attacks are area attacks what makes the skill even stronger in pvp against enemy groups. i read some other posts in this forum to get some information about cms and i readed that even if there is a doc that can heal poison the cm can poison 5 enemies (area attack) in the same time a doc needs to heal the poison. some doc mentioned that healings poinson costs the doc more ham then the poison skill of the cm. i dont know if this is right but i hope you can give me some more information

I don't mind if CM's get an area cure poison. That would be fine. Between hucking heals, and Cures, we would not get that many poisons off. We would have to use even more tactic. I.e. a Master CM who heals/cures and a Master CM who poisons/disease.

Makes the game even more tactical, and yes, there are tactics in this game.

It would be suicide, especially in a one on one attack like the above post described. We'd go down fast. Furthermore, with all the pet wars, we need something to counteract. I mind poisoned a guy in a one-on-one (he attacked first, I just wanted to go to the bazaar but was overt... my decision, my repercussion), he sicked his pet on me, and was not a master ch'er or ch'er at all. I incapped him, but his pet still got me before I could duck into a building or get a warning shot off.

anyone knows if the correspondets of all professions work together to find good ways to balance the professions or work all correspondents "just for" their profession. i think it would help the game very much if all correspondents work together to find a good way that everyone have fun in the game and not every profession "hates" the other like pistolleers and bhs for example

Okk1980: It costs me 160+ mind to attempt a posion cureAND its on the wound timer not the stim timer. Normal heals hover around 80 a pop. I tell people totake food and muon because trying to blow my mind awaycureing in combatis pointless. Nothing like doing an eye shot in damage to youself just to cure poison.

okk1980: Actually that's what I like most about the Medic-realted forums (like Doc and CM) because more often then not you find folks willing to bounce arguments off of each other, reach compromises and sometimse just agree to disagree without all the flaming. I love a good debate, obviously.

Back to the poison discussion... I wasn't talking about AoE poison, just a singular one. AoE lends a different aspect, but for a much reduced damage value. It should also be noted that even for those single poisons to get a 400 dmg/tick poison you generally need to use advanced components and really good resources, all of which are very hard and expensive to get, for realtively limited charges compared to somthing like a pistol. AoE poisons have other problems in not being properly counterable at this time, IMHO. (4 was just a number I threw out there, it depends on how many people with a TEF get caught in the area of effect which is experimentable to be larger but at a cost to the chance that it will even stick or the amount of damage that the poison can do if it does stick.) Oh, and I guess that should also be added as a further problem with poisons, the strongest of poisons will likely have a lower chance of actually working. In other words, although a poison never misses per se, it does have a chance of being resisted.

At any rate, if you wanted to compare them then you should probably consider how much damage per second is done. In the case of eyeshot a potential low end damage of 100 damage per second is possible. In the case of poison a potential high end of damage of 50 damage per sedond is possible. So there's your comparison.

Oh, and I guess only Kavedawg or I are really qualified to answer that Correspondent question. Suffice to say that on teh Corre forum primarily folks will list the issues for thier profession and the other Corres are free to read and/or comment as they wish. Then if you're lucky you get a Dev comment thrown in there.

Overall the atmosphere is pretty even-tempered. Lots of folks just tyring to help each other out and see how what they are suggesting affects others and seeing what can be done about some of their issues. Occasionally you may find a correspondent who will stand up for their profession to counter some suggestion or other by another correspondent (nicely, of course) but mostly there a lot of sympathy to go around for all of the problems that exist in all of the professions.

Swg isnt divided in pvp and pve like in other games like daoc for example. in doac you normaly play in groups if you are in pvp and you need to enter special pvp areas. you normaly can see what class the enemy is and you can use tactics because you know his "profession". in swg pvp can be performed everywhere if you are overt. so my problem is for example if i run overt through a town like coronet as rebel and then a overt imp comes around and i dont even know if its a cm or a pistoleer for example because he has the title deactivated i go and shot him then i directly get an poison attack and know i cant do anything more. many player professions you know because you see he uses a scatter pistol or a flamethrower for example but cms have the bonus that players dont know their profession until they're poisened. so i think they are extremly dangerous in pvp more than other professions. the cm poison dot is in my opinion really on of the best attacks because nearly no one can heal mind damage. its the same like with the bhs eyeshot but this skill got nerved and will only be good if you are a master bh and it cost much mind per shot with a scatter pistol for example 150-200 mind per shot ( makes 0-300 dmg against someone without a helm with a 147-227 dmg scatter). so the only skill you have a good chance against a cm that can heal his other wounds except mind will bring you even faster to the clonecenter. i never played a cm so i dont know how much ham a cm poison attack uses but i think it will have a better dmg/ham than eyeshot.there isnt any good defense against the cm poison i know. against eyeshot you just put on a good composit armor and you have a really good defense against eyeshot. so i cant understand that the cm poison attack should be fair if everyone before cried because of the overpowered eyeshot. dont understand me wrong i am happy that eyeshot got "fixed" and will only be a good at master BH because it was too good and too cheap (you only needed bh pistol 2).

If anything I think poisions and disease are a little weak... well disease is actually useless. A master combat medic requires the 2nd most skillpoints as a class in the entire game. They can do three things: Poision, Disease, and Heal. That's it. Disease is useless and broken anyway at the Area C level. Poision is partially broken due to the Adv. Resilance Compound being broken and unable to craft. CM's most powerfull Healing Grenade, the ranged Stim-E is borked and can't be used. The class's CM medical use is borked and were stuck at 90% efficiency instead of 100%, making us 10% less effective in EVERYTHING we do. Poisions and Diseases don't even usually do their first tick of damage until the CM that used them is dead anyway (if more than 1 opponent exists). And for all of you that think poisions are overpowered!???! NERF YOU! I spent the 2nd most skillpoints in the game to get them and that's tough sheet if you don't like the idea of being poisioned. Go stick your flame thrower in your rear or your no skills required eyeshot spam somewhere else. It's darned expensive and time consuming to be a combat medic on top of all this, even to the point combat medics should be the #1 PvP class in the game if that's all you looked at. But were not, were broken as it is.

Neither is overpowered at all. Diseases take too long to take affect so they are almost totally useless.I fight almost anyBH thathas eyeshot. I poison and they incap and then DB me. Most the time but not always. If I get DB I lose faction points. All they have to do is find any neutral or imperial bystander to duel and kill them and the disease and/or poison doesn't matter. Say they can't find a cure or someone to DB them when the poison finally kills them I don't recieve any faction points for it.

As for area poison cures. Yes, Doctors should have one. This game is supposed to have balance and withoutan area non ranged heal for poisons it's notthere. CMs should been given two things to counter this. 1 would be the ability to heal area heal poisons at range. The other would be the ability to remove the fire state. Someone, anyone needs to be able to heal it since it's currently the only state that can't be countered by either CM or Doc.

And as far as quickly healing poisons. I'm Master Doctor and Master CM. My best poison cures will not stop my best poisons before they incap. It takes multiple uses of C poison cures to stop a C poison. That's with them not even being stacked with an area poison. And that's with both of them using great sub components and great materials and experimented soley for effectivness.
