First off...the /healstate command isn't that useful to begin with, the state will disappear fairly quickly on its own. Also, I agree with everyone here in saying that the doctor is DEFINITELY a front line profession. The heal state command is ours, get your own skill. Just because your profession isn't working out for you, don't start calling for others to accommodate you.

Having damage cut in half for 2 minutes is a big deal in the heat of combat. So is being stunned.

These are all short term effects though that need to be healed on the spot.

"The heal state command is ours, get your own skill" -- I am a pikeman/DOCTOR. Your reading comprehension is of poor quality.

What part of every one of your abilities having a 40+ range makes you "front line"

Front Line in my definitions, is people that have short range on their weapons for maximum effectiveness. If your a CM charging in the front of the pack, you die...and die quickly. Why? People target Combat Medics. If you can heal/poison from 40M, then you should do that. Not do it from 5M.

I believe that the usage of "frontline" here defines whether or not a person is good for field work or should stand back at the camp and wait for patients to roll in for healing. For instance, a weaponsmith is not a "frontline" profession. Some folks are saying that Doctors are not a "frontline" profession and should be back at the camp/hospital to heal wounds and apply buffs.

As for Combat Medics actually applying States like Stunned or Intimated or Dizzy, I think the argument can go either way. On one hand, it is encroaching on the abilities of the combat professions. Diluting their abilities would cause an uproar. On the other hand, what better to cause these States but drugs? Give it a 6 meter range, require an actual delivery unit, and toss the skill into the middle of combat medic ranged support or something. I would love the option of running up and sticking someone with a needle jammed with some kind of neurotox for a Stun effect.

You're absolutely correct! Doctor has more front-line use than a CM. It's a wonder they put"Combat" in Combat Medic in this game. One would have thought that a CM would bring more to the battlefield (other than heals and poisons) than a Doctor, who by the way has an extra 14 skill points that could be used to increase his combat worthiness over what a CM can ultimately be.

CM - glorified medic with one note-worthy special - poisons.

Disgruntled and Disillusioned.

Okay, let's not get into a game of immature insult tossing. I agree with Tex and a few others. Doctors are just as much front-line as Combat Medics. The way I see it, Combat Medics are all about range and area effects. They're there to suport the tanks. If you think about it, the tanks take the hits up front, the CMs are pretty much the middle, and the Docs are in the back. CMs try to keep everyone alive and up. Docs tend to the poisons, diseases, blindness, dizziness, and resuscitation. It's supposed to be about teamwork. We can't have one class tending to everything at once, which is why people multi-class. We need our tanks to lay the smack-down, our combat medics to keep everyone up on their feet, and our doctors to help support and tend to injuries on the field.

There is absolutely no point in insulting one group or another when everyone is working toward the same goal, regardless of their approach.
