Thread: Any CM's out there use their profession to heal, and not to hurt?

My first priority is to my group. I'll do my best to heal them. However when not doing that I chuck poison/disease like the devil.

Personally I think when I was a CM I kept pretty balanced. I was never more likely to do one or the other, just whatever I could do to help at that moment.

Personally, I like the combat medics who use their ability to hurt to help.

For example, giving out mind disease to people in cantinas to help entertainers grind.

Yeah, sometimes you heal mind damage if you have a player in your group that's down due to a mind incap.

The reason I went into Combat Medic in the first place was for the healing abilities. I was already a Master Doctor, but running after people to heal them was getting really, really tiresome. So I picked up Combat Medic for the ability to stand in one spot and toss heals

The Poisons and Diseases provided a bit of extra damage for my PvE group. And they were a nice way of getting off a bit of damage in PvP(tried not to use Mind Poison too much, but did) even though I knew I'd likely be the first dead.

I took CM for the healing...sadly though, those Healing abilities seem to have become near worthless in a game where buffs, b-stims, and mind damage rule the day.

I mostly use my combat medic skills for healing. You get in a group and chuck an area stim c and the whole group is healed... LOVE IT!!!! Also, every now and then I will help entertainers by doing the mind disease thing. They tend to like that!

On the rare occasion I go into PvP is really the only time I use poisons and diseases for damage purposes. I'm working on Master Pistoleer (and almost have it too) and I don't want them taking away XP from my pistol XP during normal combat missions.

I have been a CM since New Year, MCM since February. I have always used area/ranged heals as my bread and butter. Find a nice group hunt and hit area stims on a central person and keep the whole group topped up. You get a few things out of this. 1 Amazing med XP healing 10+ people in a group. 2 You get huge amounts of Kudos off the group for keeping them alive. I have lost count of the times people said to me "Wow, you're an amazing healer!"I am the primary healer in my Guild on hunts, even though we have Master Docs, I can get to more people in a shorter period of time than any Doc on in the galaxy, unless he has a Deathwatch Jet pack. And as for mind heal, it is a very useful tool, shame it screws me up so much. I just wishI could have taken up meditation in TKA, that would help me out a great deal, rather than relyng on Master Dancers/Musicians for mind buffs. And now I am taking up part of the Doc tree too, (as I am going more PvP orientated) as I have some 600+ and 900+ poison, med XP is an absolute doddle to get as you get 900+ xp per poison landed and areas are even better in PvE for XP. So in general I am a healer, I always will be, and my guild want me to stay that way, but we are a ranged support class. This means we aid combat and this is where poison comes into it. I feel we are overpowered with regards to effectivness, but if we could be given a way of healing mind with a stim then I think the call for the "N" word will be a lot less.

PvE - when grouped: ALWAYS. No need to get exp since August of last year. Only time I shoot is when I catch aggro and then I usually just use warning shot until it goes running off. Will use the poisons too if it saves me on using too many stims during hunts or against NPC Imperial targets.

PvE - solo: Poison and I heal my pet using area stims and rake in the resources 4 or 5 critters at a time. Versus NPC Imperials basically the same thing except I'll send in the pet and run out of range until I lose aggro then come back and double up poisons and heal the pet. Afterwards I loot a dozen ST's and move on.

PvP - when grouped: Usepoisons, heals, healmind, and pet.

One other note on the gtef - All you NON-CM types whine about someone using a gtef and tossing poisons (and/or diseases) and call the CM that does it a griefer (along with a lot of other nasty names) but I've been gtef'd way more by others (all you novice medics tossing a stim B) than me using it. Too many times I've seen a blue dot turn red and start getting hit by two or three opportunists who'll take any chance they can get to whack a Rebel. They've allowed temporary flags in the game... it's an acceptable tactic and it's going to be used. Oh, and you're still going to whine about it so... go to your local chef and buy more cheese.
