Combat Medic Archive
Thread: Holo's response for CM
Ahh but you see that is the crux.
I know we cannot heal on our butts, just like a modern medic cannot help an injured comrade when he is pinned down. That is where the dreaded "T" word comes into play. That word would be Tactics.
I have said this before. I have seen people spend hours in EQ trying to figure out how to take on a big dragon or god. They know just when a cleric should be logging out of the game, when the mages should nuke and so on. Don't tell me that in the next couple of months that this player base is not going to figure out a way to protect healers while at the same time take out the enemy. The team that does that the best wins.
We do not need the ability to stand up in the middle of the battlefield impervious to everything that is going on around us. I can promise you this, if I am 40 meters behind the skirmish line and someone is knocking me on my butt, then I need to find a new skirmish line to hide behind. Anyone that gets within 64 meters of me when I am behind a line should be dead in seconds because he has to be less than 24 meters from my friends putting rounds into them.
I will say that all bets are off when we get in one to one combat, that is the point, we are technically a support class and as such should not be able to solo another combat player. Don't get me wrong, I have strengths and I have weaknesses. If my opponent fails to exploit my weaknesses, then he will die, just like if I fail to exploit his. That is why mind poison IS NOT overpowered. That is our strength, our weakness is that it will take a while for me to kill with it, and in the meantime I will probablyu die doing it, that is the way the game is played, Most of us accept that I think.
