Thread: no mind damage deaths
Mind damage deathblows are perfectly viabile. The requirement to deathblow someone is that they are incapacitated. How would you say there are multiple types of incapacitation? Being unconcious on the ground is the same no matter how it happened.
Mind damage can not be healed, but that is not a good enough reason to change the CM class in my opinion, or the game mechanics behind mind damage. I think a better alternative to this would be allowing musicians to heal people ANYWHERE. Kind of like war drums in fantasy settings. Having a musician in your party playing the entire time your fighting should strengthen your resolve, and your mental focus. This would make musicians a valueable part of PVP, and strategy in the GCW.
The idea of a medical profession being able to heal mind damage is a possibility. In my opinion, it would be the equivilant of brain sugery or such to do so. It should have increased healing time, and healing cost. As well as require specialized stims. If an elite medic profession is allowed the ability to heal mind damage, it should be Doctor, and it should only be available at the master level.
There is nothing to prevent the rifleman from bashing away with standard hits, using non-special attacks afterward. His target is immobile, just keep attacking for a few rounds withthe T21 and it's over.
Unless there is a buddy nearby with a stimpack, in which case the buddy can choose between a) healing the incapped dude to keep him from being DB'd and standing still in the open within the known range of a rifleman, or b) engaging the rifleman before the rifleman can drop another stat pool to zero.
It would give us a fighting chance, but it would require some serious retooling of the combat code to allow you to shoot an incapped player.
What we really need is the ability to make Newbie Stims as a Master Doctor or Master CM. This would allow minimal revival of a mind-incapped player, but the delay and poor power of them(like 50 pool points)would not completely imbalance the game. It's enough to get you back on your feet, but not enough to let you heal yourself or attack with a special move. When you get up, you should have a good idea about which direction to run...
