Thread: Combat Med's becoming nerf'd?
i dont agree with the 75% reduction in pvp, nerf the mind poision, but leave the rest as they are, they are POISON, not bleeding attacks, they are meant to do dmg, if they nerf us its because all the BH's are crying that they arent UBER anymore, eyeshot does more dmg to a player now even with the 75% recuction, than anything else, NERF THE MIND POISON, but leave the rest as it is, combat medics should deal alot of dmg, its our JOB, this is the same BS that happened to the CH's all the BH's cried and moaned that they got their butts kicked in pvp cause a CH's pets would kill them, WAHHHHHHH go cry about it somewhere else, combat medics are supposed to do dmg, and heal dmg, thats our job, BH's are meant for tracting down ppl and killing them, if they should nerf anything, make it where BH's cant use their specials, unless they are on a BH mission, thats equal to taking our poison packks down 75%.
if they do nerf us, theni know about 50 cm's that will be canceling their accts, this is retarded that the BH's can say what has to be nerfed, when they should be the ones who get mega-nerfed.
You forget that your doing that damage to multiple targets, so even with a 75% reduction your still going to out damage pistols. Illwait and see what happens, but as a former TKA I have seen a class nerfed beyondany usefulnessdue to player griefing.

I tend to agree with Khragon. Poison damage will be nerfed. Even if it's just us getting the 75% reduction in damage applied to other forms of pvp, it'll make poisons completely worthless. A nice single target mind C ticks for between 450 and 550. What's the time per tick? I'm estimating around 10 seconds or so. As it is, DPS is way under other combat classes. You cut it to 25%, you're talking about 112-137 every 10 seconds, or 12-13 DPS. Compared to my pistol, which without any specials is doing 45-50 every 1.4 for 32-35 DPS.
Ugh. I only have one line of pistoleer, stances, mastered. Guildmates are ruining people as BH, doing 250+ with eyeshot, which is what, once a second?
If people think disease is a grief tool now, wait until poison is completely invalidated as a form of attack. I'll be using disease exclusively, because even if they suck the 75% reduction, wounds still are a pain to get rid of.
*exhausted from hearing the grief*
Ynow..*sigh* the enitre NERF concept is sickening...you chose a class based on some skills....FIGHT LIKE CRAZY to get there, someone cries that another class's skills actually worked on them and BAM some dev who barely plays the game decides to gimp a profession....wow.
What you end up having is just what were all seeing, people leaving the game due to "i busted to get where i was and they screwed it all up, i dont want to switch classes just to find enjoyment again til they nerf that one".
Funny thing is, they made a great game, the balance of the classes is perfect IF IT IS PLAYED THE WAY INTENDED, TOGETHER. You dont like mind poison? Hmmm, travel with a Doctor in your group. You dont like KD? Hmm, travel with another BH/CM in your group to keep him down so he cant KD you. Dont like eyeshot? Hmm, keep some Riflemen spammin flurry shot/strafe shot/mind shot/suppression fire/head shot on him.
The thing is SWG is a great freegin game if you play it the way its supposed to be played, IN GROUPS. If people actually assembled nice groups we'd see much more entertaning pvp battles that would last much longer. They developers toke alot of time trying to make every class very helpful and I believe they did a fine job of this. PLEASE dont nerf classes devs, encourage people to play correctly with suggestiions like these. (although the NO defense for Rebels against the AT-ST is rediculous and needs to be fixed)
If they contiune to nerf classes anymore and make it a solo experience, in the end they will have just that...ONE solo player playing on each server, alone, and he will be the one that cried nerf....I just wonder what class he will be...............
correct, so many people are coming from games like DAOC. Where they had an assassin and soloed PvP. They come here thinking they can do the same thing. Well i got news for you, you can for now, but not for long. This is Galactic War, not solo farming for faction points. The points are a bonus. The faction perks a toy. Get your starwars equivlant of a shadowzerker out of here, becuase it will be nerfed.
I had a BH, just rerolled last night. I soloed for faction points all the time. But with the changes coming i know that i will need to be in a group. I know this, this will be the 3rd prof i change to due to changes in the game. I don't have a problem with it. I like where it's going, will be very fun if people learn to travel in squads. I am now going CM becuase i want to be in a team of people for PvP. I've done the assualt trooper character, i want a new twist. I want to be the character that can pull 4 or 5 people together and be efftive regardless of what class they are. Not enough people on my server go medic. Everyone is going Commando or BH, or CH. I want to be what groups build around. I will never beable to "solo" as effectively as i did before, but i don't care. Becuase i know that is not what this game is about.
no wasn't directed at anyone in particular. Just to those who think this class is the newFoTM. They should stick with the BHs. That's all i mean.
As a BH (well i was) i was able to take out 3-7 people before either i died who they all fell down. This was using tactics, without pets of any kind, and some awesome stimp-Cs. I had a build that pretty much dominated anyone 1on1. But alas, i know where things are going and i'll trying to get a head start there. Grouping in war will be the key. And what kind of group can you have without range heals??
I like the idea of mind poisons. This now ENCOURAGES groups with medics/doctors. It seems before you could go group hunting and NEVER need a doctor/medic. Get a group of CH/BH/Pistol and boom you could 1 hit kill 1 person at a time. Grouping should include doctors and medics and mind poison is a solution. I dont think AOE cures is the right way to go they need to get more doctors in PvP. Now in that case I would also suggest something like doctors/medics have a greater resist to disease/poison so they cant be hit by it and can cure comrades in the field.
ya..i took CM to heal my friends i go hunting with and we tend to get dispersed pretty good so the ranged heals are great...can stay back with the other ranged weapons types and still hit the melee fighters up front...and if you can get the poison to work its pretty good.
its just that some of the things in cm are annoying the hell out of me atm...and all of them are already listed in the big post so i wont repost them here.
This is what I tell people who have issues with our class.
Reported from the GCW forums.
169 skill points is what it takes to master combat medic.
Combat medics must spend hours finding the resources required for those stims. Either they spend a ton of money on bazaar purchases of factory items and exotic resources for advance medical stim parts such as dantooine berries, yavin fiberplast, electon and tolin reactive gas, radioactive class 1, titanium aluminum, liquid petro 2 and 4 etc etc etc, or we have to harvest these items ourselves over weeks, and have our own factories, just to even get 1 good batch of that mind poison. This adds up to spending 30-70k a week in maintainance costs and shuttle trips.
Were not talking about whats required to just level here. This is whats required to stay at the top of our game in PvP. Additionally the range on ranged stims is between 20-45 meters and now requires complete line of sight.
Our Class is titled Combat Medic. Meaning we are designed for combat. I wear a title from one of the braches called Chemical Warfare Expert because thats what I consider myself as and that also means we were designed with combat in mind for those who think we were not. Only the Bounty Hunter spends mroe points in mastering their profession and an effective bounty hunter will stop us dead in our tracks with knockdown/dizzy attack.
Everyone has range on us except a melee player. So instead of coming to these boards and complaining how horrible combat medics are either walk in our footsteps, group with a doctor, or learn tactics.
A well-played Combat Medic dominates solo PvP right now. They set the playing field because of radar; with proper experimentation on poisons they are untouchable. A Combat Medic only needs to attack you once, then they can dedicate their time to staying alive. The only way a skilled CM should die is if he/she gets swarmed by a small army of fast running pets, or gets caught without burstrun against a class that can range knockdown and incap before he/she can get up again. Getting killed while loading doesn't count.
In group vs group and large-scale combat, you still end up poisoning more than anything else, you might dragincap a bit as well if you get the opportunity to. The only damage that is worth anything 90% of the time in PvPlayer(not pet) is mind...you can't heal that with craftable medical stims.
