I have a suggestion and would like your opinion on it specifically Morrow.I propose a timer that prevents a doctor from a different faction (including neutrals) from healing a player that has taken part in GCW combat within a five minute period.

This would prevent 'blue healing' as I (as a neutral) could not go around healing peopleif they are taking part in a GCW battle but if someone was in a GCW battle 15 minutes before and are just sitting a starport I can at least heal their wounds. This would also allow any doc to heal any player in a regular non GCW groupbecause by the time the group gets together and is actually put in a position to get hurt the 5 minute period will have past. The only people that would be able to heal combatants during a GCW battle would be the Factioned docs and those docs would still be at risk.

I think this solvesboth problems (blue healing and healing combatants in regular groups) and does not create any new ones except perhaps a wait of 5 minutes if they have just been in a battle. This wait is not longer then the current wait to go on-leave anyway so there is not a new problem created there.

P.S. This method also prevents annoying message boxes popping up to ask if you want to perform the action or not.

I love this idea.

The only down side is that it involves a type of TEF and those are very frowned upon by devs these days as they are often broken.

Other than that I think it is great.

I haven't gotten the pop up box to go combatant since the CU was published, but as the people I run with are usually on leave I haven't encountered too many problems. Now trying to run with a group in the Mining Outpost is where these kinds of problems pop up a lot...

i usualy buff my group members before we start the hunt - also to see if someone is combatant. i then give them notice that i cannot heal or buff them if they dont go on leave. some go on leave after that (its fast if u travel to one of the faction outposts with your space ship - like rebel outpost on rori) and the ones that stay combatant know that they cannot expect heals from me.

i hope they implement the automatically return to combatant for all soon (use an attack on a faction NPC or heal on a combatant to get the confirmation window). at the moment a doc can return to combatant by using the drag incap player on a combatant (even if the combatant is not incapped) - u get the confirmation window when doing so.

on hunting groups i use this method only in cases of emergencies - like if a combatant of my faction needs a rez.

but one thing anyone should know is: if u join a random hunting group u should be on leave if u want to make sure u get heals.

Having read everything that was said after I first posted I still feel that it's still not right but I know they aren't going to change the inability to heal combatants if you not of the same faction.. And since they aren't going to change it then what they should then do is make it so that you can't group with anyone who is of a different faction than you are, that way you will know just who you can and can't heal before you need to do some healing.

I prefer the old way of handling the overt/covert healing. I liked it when a healer could heal any covert with out feel of receiving a TEF flag.
Now when I was in the village I was more than willing to get the TEF at the expense of being able to heal but I wasn't even given the choice of whether I accepted the TEF or not.
