Thread: Master CM and Rifleman or Pistoleer?

I was a MCM/rifleman, and its offensive power is unequealed. Actually so much offense it becomes redundant. You do enough damage as either a MCM or rifleman, that the two dont really complement each other that well.

The defenses and versatility of the pistols suits a CM better. That being said, being able to headshot and then sniper shot a poisoned rebel WAS very nice, but nothing that a pistoleer couldnt do (except the sniper shot)

Riflemen is by far, 100% THE better choice, hands down.

Oh god lets see...

- Mind Bleeds/Headshots do ALOT more damage than Pistol bleeds/Body shots. Meaning its far better in PvP. Most people are buffed in health/action, whereas Mind buffs take time. Youll find 1 mind buffed person for every 10 doctor buffed people.

- In PvE, warning shot keeps critters away. Meaning, youre shooting long range, so 60m Range mods from Riflemen work much better.

- Nothing in PvP right now is stronger than a Jawa Rifle, in terms of damage output from a weapon. (At least on Starsider)

- Conceal shot in PvE = thx

- Sniper shot in PvP = thx

- The ranged/melee mods are INSANE. Pistoleer gets Status mods, Id much, much rather block the move altogether than simply not KD.

- INSANE Accuracy. Right now with stacking defenses, it maaaatters.

I could go on for hours. Pistoleer as a class by itself is a joke. Without BH or Smuggler, seriously... it sucks. I have never, ever neverevernever seen someone with JUST Pistoleer be viable in PvP. They just dont have ANY good moves. Riflemen, however, rock the house.

Going Pistoleer/CM would be like trying to make a Poison Dagger Necro in D2.

Ok.. I like the number of replies... it seems that whatever I pick I'm going to kick some serious behind...

One question still puzzles me though... The 'Elite' Pistol of the Pistoleer class... how good is it?

when i was a pistoleer i had my FWG and my scout blaster hotkeyed. i start out using the FWG at range and as they got closer i swicthed to my scout blaster. scout doesnt do as much dmg but you hit more often cause at point blank you are still in the + where as a FWG is like -36 at point blank. but the most dmg igot out of my (nonkrayt) FWG while spamming stopping shot was like 1500. and that was a good hit. i know many others do much more but for me, no matter how many FWGs i bought i averaged out at like 1000-1100.

honestly, in PvP as part of a raid, i am so busy healing, ressing and tossing poisons i barely ever shoot. just no time. mostly because i am the only CM andusually the only resser too.

Well, I can tell you that Master Rifleman is probably the most powerful class in the game right now. I can't comment on how CM works with it (as I'm working on it now) but the mind use is not really a problem--using some Breath of Heaven from a Chef or Muon Gold from a Smuggler (or both) I can take down almost anything out there before it reaches me (1 second per shot, area effect several thousand damage shot at master, several slightly less damaging shots at lower skills). Using Muon Gold, I usually run out of health before mind.

Ok the person above mentioned the FWG5, but that is not the "elite" pistol for the pistoleer tree. The "elite" pistol is the DX2 (which to be honest to inferior to the republic blaster). Go rifleman.

I just got my Master Rifleman yesterday. I can tell, the speed modifiers for rifleman are insane!! I now fire my T21 about once every second on autofire. Using specials, about every 2 seconds. I can mow through rebel npcs so fast now. In PVP, no armour = T21 to the head. Composite (most wear this) = Jawa Ion. A master riflman is quite powerful. The only thing to remember is to stay out of short range when possible. Even in short range, you'll still hit most of the time. You get a doc to buff and then get a master dancer or musician to mind buff you and you become a tank!!

I love being a master rifleman!!!! I can't wait to test PvP again tonight!!!

I can't believe no one has mentioned this (especially you, Naecabon) but Master Riflemen, on top of everything else already mentioned, get the single most devastating attack in the game right now: Advanced Strafe (Strafe Shot 2). That attack is simply sick.
