Thread: New combat rules, END of CM?
I only wish I had the kinds of poisons and diseases that apparently so many others do. Unfortunately, on the Chilastra server, I have found the resources to be laughable at best. Our best spawn of Eleton Gas had stats all under 200. Tolium has not spawned in ages. I don't even bother with disease anymore, because with the pitiful quality of resources I find them to be useless. I would love to hear from other MCMs on Chilly to find out how they are managing.......if there are any more of us left, lol.
I do not wish to be so uber that I can solo everything, but I would at least like to be able to help my group take down a mob. Right now my only true benefit to the group is as a healer, which is fine, I like being the support type. But I would love to be able to throw a decent poison every now and then, or a decent disease, and see that I can also sway the battle by giving a little extra kick to my group.
Too often in groups, I hear "thanks for the heals, but man I really wish we had a doc. Buffs are awesome."
Maybe its time for a change, but I really love what CM could be. Or maybe I should start over on another server................
If anyone has any thoughts or ideas that may help, especially in lieu of the upcoming combat changes, it would be much appreciated.

Exactly KB...I hear the same thing...Wish we had a Doc. Rez and Buffs help out in combat groups much more than area heals, in my experience.
Plus, with the increase of poisoning and diseasing creatures...What good am I? I'm not even the optimal healer anymore.
If I were getting a group together for Krayts or PVP, I would want a CM around. Anything else, and they are a plus, but not necessary...A Doctor would be much more useful in 90% of the situations out there.

This may be the case in PvP (I don't think I necesarily agree), but in PvE, one CM throwing area Cs can keep the group up almost indefinately. If there's an entertainer in the group, even the melee tankers can be brought out and instantly mindhealed and sent back into action.
The problem in PvP is that, even with the 75% damage reduction, it's still too fast for much in the way of tactics unless you're with a familiar group who has fought together alot and knows how to "fit in" to the overall strategy.
A CM is a pretty big plus in PvP too. Area effects that can:
1. Specifically target any pool.
2. Reduce an unbuffed person to 1 pt in any area (still think this should tick to +1 as well)
3. Wound any pool
4. Completely heal everyone in your group with one toss
5. Mindheal
Even vs buffed PCs, reduing someone from 3k health to 800 health is a significant power. Can you stand there and take the brunt of the enemies fire for any length of time? Of course not, noone can. Stick and run. Have back up ready to cover your behind. Yes, you are a prime target, but that's because without you, your side has lost a major healer and will be eaiser to take down.
I agree that there is quite a difference between PvP and PvE, and yes tactics are the key to a good battle. But my biggest concern is about the question of whether or not we are overpowered. If this is based on the effectiveness and potency of our poisons/diseases, then the devs need to take a long hard look at the stats of resources between the different servers. On Chilastra, I rarely can get resources with stats high enough to make the kinds of poisons/diseases that other CM's have posted here. I experiment heavily to improve stats as much as possible, but I would bet that my best area poison C is comparable to an average area A on some servers. I have heard of CM's on other servers dropping several opponents in 10 seconds with a good area mind poison. At my best, I can stick one or two, but they usually db from attacks from my groupmates long before my poison has done anymore than 100 damage.
And I do agree that as healers we are awesome. Everytime a groupmate says "I wish we would've had a doc" I reply "Why? Everyone in this group is on there feet and healthy." Even so, there is quite a lack of appreciation and respect for CM's as a whole, but this is only from what I have seen. I realize that others here may havehad much different experiences.
Good luck, all!

I'd say we are not overpowered right now even with 90m 100pot attacks, simply becasue we must stop for 4 sec or so when we throw it easily getting ranged combatants in range and even melee can burst up to us.
Furthermore at 90m the target can easisly escape since the poison doesnt' incap anymore.
However if they really do lower the range to 64m , and if the fix works like the stim pack fix it will be more like 45m max range and we still stop moving to throw posion we're done
