Thread: Don't understand CM, please help

Matadore -


One way to look at this is that we have a marksman branch that is required for our profession. We get the "support class" label alot, but we have to spend as many points in marksman as any master pistoleer, carbineer or rifleman.


This is a pre-requiresite for CM. The other issue is the name itself which has Combat in the title. It's just a hybrid offense and defense class. We are not uber offense or defense, but a decent split of both.


I don't think that you are going to find much in the way of real world comparison to poison throwers in western armies, since it's outlawed by Geneva or Hague (can't remember which)


You also aren't going to find much in the way of light saber wielding- force users in our armed forces either.....


The negative response that you are getting is because you are trying to question our only offensive ability with real life comparisons. If we compared this game to real life, then there would be a lot of changes... Hope that helps >>>>

God, all you nerf crying whiners need to chill out. If someone does more damage, then parry that skill. AOE poisons should be able to be cured by AOE heals... Give Docs a new ability called *triage... and mass heal these AOE effects. But dont handicap a class, that relies on a specific type of damage to be effective in pvp.

No where in any of my posts did I say "Nerf". Nor did I say you shouldn't have anything. So calm down. I want to know the hows and whys of your profession and what you, the CMs, see as your role. My reason for the comparisions to RL professions (not all 100% inline) was that is my only basis for beginning to understand you.


I was only after your opinions of your roles and perhaps an adult discussion about those roles.I wanted to know where you are and where you think you are going.


Would you have preferred that I had posted in a galaxy forum with a "Nerf the CM" post?

Sorry about the mixup in this thread. In the CM forums is a sticky right now about Combat Medics wanting a statement from the Devs about the role of CMs in SWG. In that thread are also some good arguments for both sides.


The very shortest answer to the question is: It depends on which CM you ask. You are probably just as likely to get a resonse saying that CMs are a support profession as you are saying CMs are a compat profession.
