Thread: Is Our Correspondant a Master CM?

and to answer the title of this thread

yes, I am a master CM and was a MCM/ Doc 4-4-4-4 before becomming a correspondent. I don't PvP much because most of my time is spent doing missions to pay the harvestor fees and there is not a whole lot of PVP on TC. This may change soon because of the influx of people checking out the mounts / cities and deciding to stay on TC

Just as the Chef to BH analogy has its flaws so does the volunteer polotician to correspondent analogy.

Our correspondent is here to act as a focal point between the Devs and the CMs. He IS allowed to have his own opinion!!! He is NOT allowed to ignore our ideas and opinions.

Show me ONE instance where he has ignored the CM community and failed to take our ideas and opinions to the Devs.

Just because you disagree with him on this one situation does not give you reason to attack his integrity. I disagree also but i have respect and trust in Kavedawg that he will take my ideas and suggestions to the Devs as well as his own.

BTW where exactly are your suggestions on how to get rid of the 'incap dance' and still keep our main weapon viable?

I posted mine in Kave's thread about the +1 DOT problem and i will repeat my favorite idea here

Have poison incap 1 time then be limited to a max of 1 point left in the bar affected until the poison wears off. This takes away the 'incap dance' but still lets our main weapon incap and gives the opportunity to DB the enemy.

Until you know that our correspondent has ignored our ideas and opinions and not presented them to the Devs you need to back off the personal attacks and start coming up with ideas to fix the problem!!! period end of story.

I think Kavedawg is doing the job he is supposed to be doing. Presenting what we the CMs believe are the main issues to our class. He and i don't agree on everything but i respect him for volunteering even as i present ideas different from his on some issues. He has earned your respect also whether you choose to give it or not because he consistanly presents our concerns whether he agrees with them or not.

"if you still feel so strongly that I am not forwarding both sides of the issue, and I am only " Pushing " for what I think is right, do as I have posted in a few threads before "

As our corrospondant you should be pushing for what we, the majority feel is right. By putting your own wants ahead of ours you have abused your powers. Your job is to act as an unbiasedmedium between the community and the developers. How can you when you've already made your decision.

Our profession is tied in second for the amount of skill points needed to master. This nerf/fix, whatever you want to call it will make us the only profession that can't kill with our skills. Poison and disease are our weapons. We shouldn't have to take another combat skill, we are combat medics.

Kave, you admit you do not pvp a lot and tend to stick to pve. Your also are a novice CH. You send your pet to tank, throw a few psns, heal the pet, get the loot. To you this is a fix. To those who pvp more then pve, it's a nerf. You are biased to your beliefs of our class and you are biased to pve.

I do not wish to add to the flames surrounding you and Zarlor. The longer you ignore the community the worse it will get. We already have non cms posing as cms wanting the nerf (I know not all of you are).

Umm... SolSpru, you may want to go back and read what you quoted from Kavedawg again. In effect he is stating that if you THINK he is not forwarding the arugument, and if you think he is only pushing his personal viewpoint, then start a thread to vote him out. In other words he is stating that he is, in fact, doing the opposite of that, in that he states he IS forwarding the arguments and the he is NOT pushing her personal viewpoint on the matter, but is, in fact, pushing the majority consensus instead.

As one who can read the Corre forum I will concur that he is, in fact, not pushing he personal viewpoint on the matter. I will further add that if you still don't want to believe either myself or Kavedawg that thi is the case, feel free to ask another Correspondent that you do trust to check the Corre forum to make sure that Kavedawg is, in fact, NOT pushing his personal opinon in this matter.

So he is not doing what you seem to suppose that he is doing. He's doing it they way you think he should be doing it. He's pushing the majority viewpoint on the Correspondent forum.

Now he does present his personal viewpoint on these CM forums, but what he posts here is not what get's sent to the Devs. This forum and that one are two different things.

Galaxies: The 5 issues thread Kave mentioned, there is a thread where he askes if the arguments he lists are the ones folks are feeling about the situation. I cannot link you to the actual thread he posted stating for the Devs all of what he gathered from that thread discussing the problems CMs are having with this change because it is on the Correspondent forum. I will only state that he did pass along the information gathered from that thread showing reasons and a few of the alternate solutions listed that counter accepting this change. In fact his last 3 or 4 posts there actually do not show any of the arguments FOR the change which, IMHO, means the against on this issue now FAR outweighs the for on the Correspondent forum based on what Kave has posted.

In fact there is only one mention of the "for" position and it blatenly states that it is a very small, minority poisition. What he's been telling the Devs is pretty much that CMs hate this. Period.

Are we clear on that yet?

First I'd like to state that everyone should know by now it is not KaveDawg's "fault" that this change exists (was thought of before he was corre anyway) and not Zarlor's "fault" (presented it as part of a group of ideas). They may like the idea, and we may think they're nutty for that, but they did not personally cram this change down our throats.

Now, on to KaveDawg's question:

"Why do you feel that a CM should be able to solo and own everyone in a PvP conflict when our skills are based around group play?"

I want to say first Kave, that the way you word that is almost certainly why people think you're not listening to them. "Own everyone"? Whether you meant to or not, that came off as condescending to every person that disagrees. As if you're saying the only reason we don't like the change is because we a uber-wannabes that aren't 'true' CM's or something. It was a petty thing to add in there and I trust it wasn't done in mean-spiritedness. More accurate to say "compete against all other classes". That's not such an emotion/derision loaded statement.

I would like to ask you a question in return "Why do YOU feel that a CM should only be effective in a group when our skills add nothing to a group that a doctor or any other combat class couldn't fill?"

Any combat class can do more damage quicker than our poisons. Area is the only one worthwhile in a group because it hits multiple targets, but Commando's can do that with flame cone also. Any CLASS can pick up novice medic and heal themselves far more easily than us standing around trying to chuck out stims. Honestly, every time I use a ranged stim I ask myself "why?". The answer is usually "to feel like they have a purpose".

In a group, at best we are redundant. At worst we are useless. The only place in this game where we really shine is solo PvP. Because we can take on multiple attackers by our lonesome. Why shouldn't the game have a class that can do that? It's possible because we can use individual tactics to maximize our effectiveness. In a group our only tactic is chuck area poison, throw stims, get incapped and db'd. Thoughtless, boring and predictable.

I win battles solo because I fight in places of my choosing that allow me the upperhand. I fight in the city, AH to be specific. And it is the Combat Medics heaven. In my chosen terrain the only classes I truly fear are Riflemen and TKA's. But if I go out of the city and try to hunt players, or pursue a retreating group, I will quickly find myself in the clone center. I will not duck in and out of houses with permission list access.

In other words, I fight intelligently using the abilities of my class in the way that they are most effective. Every class, in it's own element and with proper tactics, should own nearly any other class. Don't nerf me because I fight smarter than someone who can't think of anything better than to charge into AH spamming eye shot or whatever special.

In the end, every other combat or combat/support class can solo effectively (Smugglers are combat/support btw). Why should we be the only one that can't?

Don't be hate'n the correspondent! Kavedawg has done an excellent job thusfar.

I have been a CM on at least one server since beta and have seen it all. I personally have mixed feelings about the +1 poison 'nerf' as i can easily remember the countless times I laid incapped and watched the npc/pc approach me for the deathblow and then drop to my poison right next to me. These moments are engrained into my brain as the shining example of my power (even if i got incapped first) and how a love being a CM. 99.9% of these instances i was 'by my self' or soloing the opponent. In PvP this never really happens because i have a group of people backing me up, either healing me off the ground or diverting the would-be db'er with fire of their own before he can db me.

I believe the driving factor behind this change is the faction point problem and the loot bug. Rather than simply fixing the loot bug they are making this change to DOT's. Should a poison or a bleed incap you, **edit** straight it should, but as long as they do this change with ALL DOT's it will at least be something that all classes with DOTs will have to deal with. So this being the case I will learn to adjust my tactics accordingly as i am sure commandos, BH's, etc will have to change their tactics as well. However if one of these 'looted' cdefs that does poison damage or any DOT item in the game will incap a person then I have major issues with this change, but will save my fearful anxiety for when that happens rather than scream now.

The faction point issue which I personally never really cared about anyway would be a nice bonus since we were obviously deserving of faction points just were not getting them rewarded. The Loot bug is probably the major factor in this change; since the devs have opened the gates for the great holocron rush of '03 and have enabled better loot in this game and increased the frequency of the drops of late, they cannot afford to have a bug which keeps people from receiving this loot. I personally feel that they went about this the wrong way, but will most likely change my opinion when I am finally able to actually loot a holocron :-)

In the end, there is nothing we can do about this change, it is coming and we had better deal with it and learn to adjust our tactics accordingly. A lot of changes the devs have made on the TC have been blown way out of proportion before they went live, to the point that the change was actually a non-event, that a week after the change no-one really cared about it anymore. I suggest we all play the game and share our new tactics for this change with each other rather than ripping into each other for not preventing the inevitable. Hey to be honest I am thanking the devs for actually fixing the ARC schematic and the use rating on the AoE packs, that alone should make up for the +1 ham nerf (I hope).

I'm going to have to agree with the original poster. This is just another one of those round about quick fix type of things SOE has put out. They didn't fix the poison death no loot. They stopped the death from accuring therefore they don't have to worry about assigning loot from poison, because poison will never kill. They make all the non-CM classes happy from all their biitching and complaining about CM's being over powered.

You know why we are strong? Because we always follow up our poisons with either another ability from a different class OR we run like the wind and use terrain obsticals to break LOS...FISK(kettemoor) YOU DA MAN in this category.

Truthfully, I suck in PvP unless I just stand behind everyone and heal, my poisons are one of the strongest on the server, and about 25% of the people I area poison on resist, and the 75% of the others, kill me in 1 shot before they go down, and with the new non-clone TEF(thank god this came about) in the game, I can't go finish off my kills. Which I think is fair, but TEF is a different topic.

Anyway, back to my point. 1 on 1 yes, I can win, but I have to poison and not get hit after. My poison takes 2 ticks to kill(unless someone migrates bad with only 400 mind). In that 2 ticks, I would say average attacks that can hit(if I"m not around a corner) is 3. Well a rifleman usin a DLT20a can drop me in 1 hit(don't matter what your mind is at DLT20a with hs2 can do up to 2k damage with a decently made one), pistoleer can drop me in 1-2 hits(health is 800), carbineer can drop me in 1 hit(my action is around 700 only). So that said, do we want to get in to the BH and Commando(although commando would have to catch me, but that goes with my talk about breaking LOS, good tactics). The fact of the matter is, CM's don't do that much damage, poisons tick slower then any rifleman can shoot, which means a pistol or carbine user gets even more shots in before the poisons next tick. The only advantage that a CM has, is poison can last longer then bleeding, and you need a special class to heal it(doc obviously).

I wonder what people would say about bleedshot's if they couldn't get FA2 and heal it themselves after a battle? Has anyone thought of that? Take /firstaid and move it to master medic... see how many people biitch about bleedshots(they don't last as long, unless you hit multiple times with bleed).

Ok, so where do Combat Medics get the advantage?

I haven't bee na CM since beta, but I lurk here for general medical stuff...

Kave has indeed posted your negative point of view on this issue. He has been far more neutral than most correspondents with his personal opinions there, and always labels them as such.

I PVP pretty often... CM's using mind poisons cause HUGE amounts of problems.. and who knows how many CSR tickets. Though Kave has said he should have worded it better, CM's do indeed own in PVP if there is no doc around... and even as common as docs are... there isn't always one around to cure you.

Is the fix good, no it is sloppy and poorly thought out. Many of the quicker fixes are ... but the issue was causing major problems and something had to be done. Nothing is written in stone, and perhaps a better fix can go in later.

Throwing lame accusations at Kave won't help. We all bust our Butts to do this for you (for free no less), cutting into both our private lives and game time to help make the game better for YOU.

Petty and sad.

If we play smarter than the other class why shouldn't we dominate?

Who says our skills are limited only to group play? Obviously you have a narrow view of what a CM should be...

Why should we be our primary weapon be handicapped to +1 HP?Because Jonny_bounty_hunter_01 can't be uber?

BHs and Commandos are the premier damage dealing classes in the game. Why does this mean they have to dominate in PVP?

If you don't PVP then why are you commenting on a PVP issue? It's fairly obvious you are commenting from a PVE point of view.

Everyone elses primary weapon can incap and so should ours. Take a CH for example. They can use their pet or multiple pets to tear other classes up and incap them without using a pistol. How is that justified when other classes that have "weapons" to incap yet ours doesn't? So now we are no longer allowed to kite?

As far as this being a supposed fix for xp/fp....it isn't. I can still use my poison on a mob, someone else who isn't even grouped with me can fire one body shot, and they will get credit for the kill and rake in the FP/XP/Loot.

IMHO poisons and diseases should award combat XP for the damage they do. The same concept is already in place for healing in combat. Base the FP off the combat XP we have earned and we will get our fair share of the faction.

Now I know 1 point is negligible but for those that put points into other areas, this is unfair to them. They are now required to tote a CDEF and pray that with their meager Novice Marksman skills if any, they don't miss. A CH doesn't have to lift a finger. All the other combat classes already have bonuses to hit etc for their weapons.

Now you want a solution? Here's one, keep the +1 HP nerf but limit it to MIND DAMAGE ONLY. Health and Action poisons should still incap. If we as CMs risk poisoning those pools then we should get the benefit of the incap. Especially since those pools CAN be healed and buffed.

also, if you still feel so strongly that I am not forwarding both sides of the issue, and I am only " Pushing " for what I think is right, do as I have posted in a few threads before and Start a vote to get me out. You do a decent job but maybe you either need to get involved in PVP or add a co-correspondent that does. Your views on this issue are narrowminded to think that +1 in PVP doesn't make a difference. In PVP every last point in a pool means the difference between winning and losing. I'm not about to bow down to a BH or Commando just because they deal damage faster. Sorry but I PVP smarter, not harder.
