Thread: Elanora you and 5 non-CM newbies are the only ones screaming that CM needs to be nerfed.
would be nice if /curepoison was actually in line with the power of CM poison tho...
it takes 3-4 applications of /curepoison by a master doctor to cure 1 single target C level mind poison...
tested many many times on my server...
Also doctors have no effective way to treat AOE poisons...
so yes the basis for a solution is there but the fact is the the /curepoison line in the doctor line is complete underpowered compared to the CM poison power...
also it brings up another problem the doctors have and that is states and poison being reapplied right after it is cured. It takes 3-4 applications by a doctor to cure themselves thats 4x10 sec = 40 i can mind poison you again in that time and basically make it worthless to cure...
SO for sure /curepoison line needs to be upped for doctors...possibly even a AOE cure version for master doctors
As a master doctor/master combat-medic I have trained alot of medical professionals, and I generally end up asking them what their goal is. Most of the novice doctors I've spoken with are not concerned with the wound treatment speed tree. They just want to use revives and go. Or, in the case of some striving for Master Doctor, they leave the speed tree for last as an unimportant item. This is a deadly mentality that is getting them killed against combat medics in PvP.
In a nutshell, alot of the perceived power for combat medics isn't because of our overall power (which is substantial in PvP, granted), but because our opponents have underestimated us, and REFUSE to use the skills available to counter us.
As a side note. Once you are poisoned in a pool, you can't be poisoned in that same pool again until the poison wears off, correct? Assuming that is the case, a doctor is ALOT better off curing MOST of a poison application (particularly mind). This effectively gives temporary immunity (at a cost) to future poisoning of said pool.
Giving Doctors AE cures would be true balancing. A reduction in poison damage would be an unwarranted nerf.
Wait, I don't understand something... so say you poison a group of people's minds and they had a doctor with them to heal the poison and then you say what's the difference since you can just reapply it again? You seem to be assuming that these people would just be sitting there twiddling their thumbs just waiting for you to drop another AE poison in their cantina.
Personally, for the non-LoS issue to work is totally a situational thing. Meaning a place with lots of cover, somewhere like Moenia like you've said before. I hate going to Moenia, that place is ugly and it's always dark, plus the fact that it's a Rebel stinkhole makes it off my frequent travel list. Besides, I think I've made a guild an enemy from one of my raids there as a Pistoleer. So, I am never there. So, I will never have this problem of being able to abuse non-LoS application.
Noone is qualified to call a nerf on us unless they know how the Combat Medic profession really works. Noone here can do that without being biased to the workings of their own galaxy and situations. Unless one of you has a Combat Medic on every single server. Like I said before, it just seems that Elenora is bored with her class yet she doesn't seem to want to admit it.
I'd hate for this post to be anotherargument towards her but she seems to be the only CM who wants to take away functionality. Personally, I don't really care much for poison packs, they take too long to make and are hardly useful at the moment. I'de be really sad if they did cripple it's current functionality though as I am looking forward to it's effectiveness in battle. Once I reach master that is, it would definitely be nice to have.
And about this whole being idealistic crap and balance I'de hate to say it but this game has no balance in terms of combat alone. If you just look at the CM profession in terms of combat then yes it may look likeyou are overpowered but you're already forgetting the crafting part for the rest of us. You are also using poisons in ideal situations with the current bugs. If you still want to be idealistic, post it on the SWG Discussion boards, this forum is supposed to be for helping us out. Right now, you're not doing that.
