with current armor and buffs ,and for certain professions only doing kinetic dmg ,becoming 4004 cm is pretty much the only way of doing dmg to someone or certain high end npcs even.
its not cheating or exploiting by any means , its just considered cheap by the people that dont have dots.
and heres why: c poison 500dmg, b poison 380dmg,a poison 220 dmg, i never counted how many seconds it takes to throw a poison but i figure between 5-7 seconds but for this example i will say 10 seconds to throw 1 poison.
so in 30 seconds you have stacked poisons (a,b,c) for a total of 1100 dmg ticking away every 10 seconds after the initial 30 to stack . in 60 seconds who ever you infected with poison is pretty much toast. not too many professions in this game can claim this title. only other one is jedi that i can think of,that can deal dmg like this to unprepared individuals. CM and jedi throw things out of balance ..unless a doc is present to counter cm..which still leaves jedi throwing things out of whack. cm's also sometimes keep jedi balanced too ,so if you guys get nerfed, jedi should aswell.
to truly fix pvp they need to seriously rework dmg types (on weapons) & dmg resistances (on armor) so that instead of someone being relegated to picking up CM ,just to beable to get in any damage ,make it so that our weapons will do the majority of the dmg not poisons and fire dots..you guys would consider this a nerf i think, but its really not a nerf because you all would have some form or combat profession aswell,so you still have a leg up..cm should be excellent at healing and rezzing in battle (support profession) not ultimate damage dealers to unprepared crowds of people .
i think having the ability to throw poisons is ok if its balanced but from what ive seen in game, unless your a doctor or have a doctor around who can heal the stuff you guys throw it isnt very balanced . not to mention skill-less . do i blame you for being cm? no.. if i were pvping i would have cm in my template too. tkm and 4004 cm or master fencer 4004 cm pretty much owns . i prefer tk when fighting anyone but a fencer, then i prefer fencer vs fencer lol.. one thing i dislike about the combat medic profession is its biased towards ranged professions .. forcing a melee person to spend more skill points in marksman and ranged 4 isnt fair..and dont tell me melee own ranged proffs.. we dont own you guys..we only own noob ranged proffs that charge us guns a blazin without a clue in the galaxy as what there about to get themselves into. smart ranged players own melee just about everytime if there weapon is good enough. a smart melee proff wont try to chase down a ranged guy..unless you got saber block of course lol.

I think no matter how you balance profs, you will alway get the people with what they think is the UBER template that should PWN all NOOBS. When they get beat by someone who they believe should not have beaten them there will be a nerf cry. I would like to see with the CURB that PVP combat be set up that a person that knows their template and knows their strengths/weaknesses against other templates and uses them to their advantage will win 95% of the time.
That being said. I dueled a swords stacker friend a couple days ago (I am a MFencer/4004CM). There were no dots involved from either side. The duel lasted 15 minutes at which time I ended duel because neither of us were taking dmg.
The current state of PVP is that DOTs rule.

Actually being a rifleman, BH/pistoleer, or Swordsman can do plenty of damage. Even TK's can wipe up on ranged professions even through 80% kinetic (no intimidation is a major disadvantage for ranged). Speed capped swordsmen are scary.

Every profession can have DoTs. There's not a single profession out there that doesn't. Even TK's have DoT vk's dropping like crazy from the Corsairs. And every single different DoT weapon they use stacks as well.

Actually the timer is set at 4 seconds. So it takes 12 seconds to throw all 3. Now IF those poisons make it through that persons resists (assuming he isn't and idiot running around overt without them) then yes he'll have done alot of damage with those poisons. Now, let me think of how many people I know that can do 1100 damage in 10 seconds. Hmm. Hmm. Oh, him too. Hmmm. I can think of maybe like 100 people that can match or BEAT that estimate. Remember, CM's get a big fat 0 defense meaning our secondary profession provides us with all the defense we will ever get. You know, the time it takes for a BH/pistoleer to headshot you to death is actually pretty short but in the middle of combat it seems really long. Then again that TK headhit1 almost matches my headshot3 in damage (darn unarmed damage bonus!!!)

If you read the stuff they've been putting out about the CU, you'll see that some of this is coming to pass. Do we consider this a nerf? No. We never believed that poisons and DoT's in general should own the battlefield. Btw, if anyone is overt and unprepared they deserve to die. PvP is a harsh playground, and there are no mommies to come protect you if you get beat up. Jedi slice and dice me all the time. Then again they slice and dice everyone.
i think having the ability to throw poisons is ok if its balanced but from what ive seen in game, unless your a doctor or have a doctor around who can heal the stuff you guys throw it isnt very balanced . not to mention skill-less . do i blame you for being cm? no.. if i were pvping i would have cm in my template too. tkm and 4004 cm or master fencer 4004 cm pretty much owns . i prefer tk when fighting anyone but a fencer, then i prefer fencer vs fencer lol.. one thing i dislike about the combat medic profession is its biased towards ranged professions .. forcing a melee person to spend more skill points in marksman and ranged 4 isnt fair..and dont tell me melee own ranged proffs.. we dont own you guys..we only own noob ranged proffs that charge us guns a blazin without a clue in the galaxy as what there about to get themselves into. smart ranged players own melee just about everytime if there weapon is good enough. a smart melee proff wont try to chase down a ranged guy..unless you got saber block of course lol. Skill-less? Except for commandos on rare occasions there aren't any other combat professions out there that require you to use limited use disposable weapons as your only form of offensive abiliy. Poison and disease packs take more resources than most weapons. But most weapons last ALOT longer than 40 uses. No combat profession drools in their sleep over resources with 999 OQ/PE/DR or vivid nightmares of their food/chem factories blowing up with all of their 1 year old was past down to me by 2 other CM and I pet it when I walk into the house resources. I have yet to get reimbursed by one of those oh so skill-ful(of bantha poodoo) professions for any charges spent from a limited use heal or mind trauma from a /healmind. Skill-less are those that can't figure out how to beat a CM.
p.s.- what are you doing without a doctor anyway? 1vs.1 PvP is called a "duel".

In no way is it cheating or exploiting to use DoTs.
someone in my server said that we cheat cause we stack CM poisons and DOT weapons. That gave us a laugh for a year.....

I got reported by a guild on our server 4vs1 But none of them had mind buffs and only 1 was overt so i just killed the overt and then the other only attacked me one by one and were ver easy to take out.
Imo just ignore them and report them for harisment
SOE are getting better with the harisment now adays and are banning more people so just don't wurry about it and get on with playing your own game

the main issue with DoTs these days is that nearly all battles are flooded with jedi healing off anything we can throw at them. Sure, we can drop a few dots out there, but they are healed up nearly as fast, making us little more than walking targets. Now, I realize now all groups don't have jedi, but one side usually does. Does this mean either get a jedi or die? dunno, guess that's the way the cookie crumbles

How can using items that are provided by the game engine, while practising a profession that has been deemed ok by the devs through so many nerf-storms be cheating?
That's absurd.
That's like accusing someone of cheating for playing a jedi. Hey you might not like jedi (I know I don't) but they are a part of the game. Cheating would be using a third part program to gain an advantage. Or (to a lesser extent) having a imp character scout out the base before you raid it.

I am a Master CM/Doc (novice entertainer just to heal MY own mind wounds fromhealing others mind damage). I am mostly a support player. Other than poisons and disease my offensive ability, I can barely hold a D18 pistol.
CM/Doc leave 18 skill points left over not much to build on.
In PVP I buff myself, heal guild mates, throw a few area poisons and disease, get killed clone and restart cycle.
In PVE I can Drop a 55k Ham 80% resist to everything but lightsaber MELLICHAE with 2 poisons, clean out a base solo but never get faction credit unless I can shoot a few before they fall.
The only real pleasure comes from throwing a poison then a disease, and lying on the ground and watch the target incap 3 times and then curse at me while we both clone.
Calling me a cheater while others sit and mind shot me from 50m, or warcry and dizzy and knock me down, flame,or DOT weapon me, is absurd.
If you don't like a profession find a way to beat them or join them, but dont call them cheaters when the follow the rules provided them by the DEVS.

Are u nuts? A DOC/CM lacks any kind of Defense and has no Ranged/Melee-Migration or Melee-Toughness. His only Weapons are Poison/Disease and Burstrun...If u are not able to catch one of this guys u deserve to get triple-incapped/killed/db´ed....

the problem would be if u poisoned and did almost no damage or simply healed the entire time, as long as u fight other then poisoning i dont have a problem. my personal prob would be more with a cm/doc template where the person poisons, diseases, then runs/heals untill they get an incap. but long as u least shoot at the person ur not cheating at all, jus part of how u play

Yep, I die alot with my no defense having template. But ppl still whine because I'm going to get off some nasty stuff before I do and lots of folks get cleared out by my guildies.
