That's right, you heard me. Droids.


Why droids? Because a DE friend pointed someone my way to see what use CMs could have with droids. At first, I couldn't think of anything a Droid could help us with. But, instead of telling them 'We don't serve your kind here' I thought I'd poll you folks and see what you thought.


What uses could a droid have for a CM?

What abilities would it have?

What benefits to the CM?

Heh never thought about using a droid for CM in any way. To tell you the truth I can't think of anything that they would help with either.

hehe how about using something that already exists? The docs got the wimpy lil stim droid, which I think needs to be beefed up btw. So give us a droid that can toss poison or disease, sure they would be low end a's (b's would be nice) but it would be kinda cool. It can have a command like the harvest droid, tell it poison or disease and train a command so it throws at whatever you have targeted. Gives us a faster stack, while I throw a C at the same time my lil mechanical buddy can toss a low end.


With the poison buffs and such, getting an A to stick will really cut it down to minimal damage tho.



Oh and how about a stim droid that spams low end areas? Now that could be useful, just follows the group poppin area heals.

LOL man you think CM is hated now if we had a droid that can go around gassing folks I think we would be even less popular.

But there is nothing wrong with the weak area stim one. Could be useful in pve anyway.

I tell you one droid I wish we had - one that would drag incapped players to me so I can stay in relative safe spot hehe

Now that would be a cool. A droid who has a long-range drag. You could set a patrol point (i.e. w here you are), and he'll drag players to that Patrol Point.


Or perhaps a droid that automatically does a survey for you. Not anything super, but if you pull him out on a planet, he can tell you if any of the CM advanced resources are present on that particular planet.


Or maybe a droid who automatically heals some mind wounds every 20 seconds or so. That would certainly make the mindheal less arduous for CMs.


Or a droid who can "Taunt" a creature that's attacking you. Similar to a pet's guard function, but this would just allow the droid to try and sacrifice itself to get an agro off you.

Yeah - I still think there are a lot of things they could come up with for droids that would be cool. And ideally some that are limited use so that the DE's have an actual market.

I tell you though, I think some kind of medical droid that can drag incapped/dead players to a designated point would be awesome

I can see huge GCW battles near an HQ with a ranger camp staffed with some docs etc mending those getting dragged back so they can go back out to battle

Amplification of stim or poison effectiveness


Amplification of wound healing or speeding the delay timer


Increase launching range (keep it within the 64m range of course)


Portable "touch and heal" med units. Can be disabled of course.


Portable resucitate or stabilize droids- Yes the rez issue is big and you can stick it in the master box if necessary. If that isn't an option then you can apply the stabilize subject matter to it where the "cannot be resucitated" time is extended or frozen.



The problem with droids is that unless we're granted with brand new abilities that can only be done with droids or are given abilities from other professions while using droids they really can't do much for us. A few of the new droid types that came out are only so so. The scouts are loving theirs, the combat droids are subpar and really need to be upgraded and have a skill timer or something added to the repair kits, the stimpack droids just suck. If they dispensed every kind of stim or were able to be used by someone who didn't have any medic they could have been nice but...stimA's?!! The entertainer droids are flat out useless unless you like testing how much it takes to lag your system to crash. You see where I'm going with this?

When you think about it, a battle droid made of metal should have higher ham than a non ch gurreck. Wish they could have 10k ham.


The auto drag thing with patrol points is a nice idea. I also like the idea of using a droid to amplify our range, but lets say that we relegate it to area heals and ranged stims. Anything more will make people grab the bigger nerf bats.

mabye make a kind of combat droid that spits poison and dieases at npc enemies for you..lol thats all i can think of or mabye a droid that on your command can throw area heals in a 30 meters radius of what it is following...

I think droids should have similar abilities to the droids in the movies. How about an area blind, something like a smoke screen that R2 created on Bespin. Perhaps give droids the ability to enter player bases even if the base is protected by a turret. Once the droid enters the base the cm could order the droid to gas those inside. The gas doesn't necessarily have to be poison. Perhaps a delaying attack of some sort to stop defending players from manning the turret.

I would like to have a disease/poison droid that is similar to a bomb droid. I load it and area then send it in to battle. This can help CM's get some extra distance on their poisons. Then just limit the use to once per X sec or X min.
