Well It depends for me. If I am getting worked and have to use my pistoleer skills i put on as much armor as I can. But If I am healing and not in the battle much I do not wear any armor!

So I switch a lot between armor and no armor. Not wearing armor makes your mind regen a lot faster where I can almost heal non-stop without resting to get my mind up.

but.. I went to fort tuskin and took my armor off and I was killed in one shot... OOps!
So be carefull...

I amstill an a novice Combat Medic... So I have a lot of healing yet to do!

Don't do it..........

Ok, Buy your self a good set of armor and a house. Leave armor in house unless you are going PvP. The I have been playing a CM for about 2 months and have high difficulties in a large group of keeping my mind above 1/10 with armor on. I am always throwing stims, ranged and local to keep my party plus pets alive.

I ran this past week without armor. #1 I took about the same amount of damage I did when I did wear it. This I believe was because I was under the imporession that the armor was going to protect me so I would get close to the battle. Without armor I am a little more cautious, faster, and my mind never drops below 1/2.

Of course this means I am an easy target in PvP but that is why i have a set of composite at the house. I mean everyone in PvP is rifeman or BH with eyshot anyhow and since we cannot heal the mind you don't have to worry about healing as much.

On adventure planets where I expect to take lots of hits, I wear ubese (no helmet). I have my mind stats jacked so I'm a little slower on the regen, but I can survive (and usually nothinga good food buff can't fix). Otherwise, no armor. (PvP usually catches me standing in the open, so I don't bother..just mind dot and run).

I never EVER wear a helmet.

*Sigh*

People people people, there's this nifty little thing in SWG called a macro. Make yourself an armour macro and use it. When you are in a group don't wear your armour unless you are getting pounded on as it WILL prevent a bunch of damage. Now, when you are in a group do the medic thing, balsting away at mobs and healing the poor plebs who don't the working end of a stim...trouble comes your way, click your armour macro and in the blink of an eye *BAM* your armour is all on...you take your hits, the mob dies or gets pulled off you then click your armour macro again *Bam* you're wearing your travelling clothes and tossing stim real pretty like.

Let me stress...armour works, it works, it works, it works.

two words: "Armor Macro"

its all about the armorswitch macro. i keep my set uf full 3 layered 60+% composite on me all the time. if I get aggroed, one click and its all put on to keep me safe. soon as i dont need it, hit the clothes hotkey and i'm back out of the armor... its an absoloute savior to me so many times. i have to be a Doctor too to wear it since i need the buffs for the huge ham costs. normal 40% composite thoughe can be relatively easily worn by any CM once sliced.

its seriously an amazing thing to watch people try to kill you when you're buffed, spiced, and eating mind food wearing full composite... i get so many tells from people along the lines of "why the hell dont you die" or more amusingly "h4x". wearing high % comp is definitely the way to go for pvp. if you do pve, go with adv chitin with special protection against melee andvery very low ham costs comparatively.

I managed to get my hands on some clothes that are bio engineered, Shirt, Jacket, Pants thateach have:

Medicine Use +14

Injury Treatment +14

Wound Treatment +14

(if you're on Flurry the guys name is Tactician I believe, has a shop outside Theed on Naboo)

Then I have an armor macro... but honestly I don't use it that much.

Thanks to all for the really helpful tips! SO, it looks like I'll be picking up some composite, and making armor macros (switching in battle is a reallygood idea!). What about composite vs. Ubese... pros/cons? Sorry for the newb questions... been playing since launch but first time looking into armor.

I have now 3 sets of armor (#3 hotkeyed for emergencies):

Set #1: Cloth.
Wearing it in between battles, in cantinas, camps etc.

Set #2: sliced Storm Trooper set without helmet and bracers.
Wearing it in light PvP situation (ie camping Coronet med center), or on faction missions, offers good protection for a small health regen cost, but not against tough targets.

Set #3: 29+% encumbent sliced Composite armor 41%
Wearing it in heavy PvP situations or when getting hit.
The beauty of this suit is that I can wear it without buffs wih just one click of the button, but it was expensive (to get all pieces to be sliced the same way).

As a MCM, I play mostly as a healer for large groups in PvE. Ubese coat and pants... -50 mind stats total, that's it. Very stylish and I can withstand a hella beating (while healing myself) if I happen to draw aggro.

I wear very good advanced composite...but only 2 pieces.

I wear the helmet, and the chest piece. This helps my resists on shots that would bleed my mind, or damage it. It also helps chest specials, that are common by many a pistoleer. Most often, I just wear the helmet.

Master CM here, and i never wear armor while PvPing with my PA. If i do, its usually only a padded breast plate (35%) that i got encumberance sliced. Also, if you are a in real trouble and want protecting, the magic words are Personal Shield Generator. I used one of these when our town got raided, i didnt notice till after the battle but i was getting hit for 300 damage and the PSG blocked over 250 of it, it was awesome. of course the decay like crazy but i have a master armorsmith in the PA who loves me
