Thread: Pay for teaching?

I recently have started asking for payment of Combat Medic training and have been getting responses varying from polite declines, which I can handle, to outright rude responses. I have given out free training, but feel I either must make an attempt to know who I am training, or make it economically viable for me to continue my training as a Doctor. I always tried to tip when being trained, usually at half the cost or if I did not have enough,my whole account. It cost a good deal to get training when no one you know is on at 1am, playing at PST gets boring when you are a night person. Any feedback on this issue?

I always train basic medic skills for free and Elite CM/Doc Skills for 1k per box. If they are rude then look at it this way. You are doing nothing more than forcing them to give the XP to someone who could use it and will do it for free.

CM training costs alot,I didAll my trainingat the trainer. When players approach me and ask for training, I just train them, I don't like askingpepole for money, but most pepole tip verygood for training, I usualy get 3k per box, So I don't complain.

But your'e right, you can charge money for the training and if pepole don't like it, tough. It's not like we need the AP xp...

yeah TC is a different story than live (mostly free training on TC by the way if your ever there, just ask around) when I did play on the live servers I would pay for training at about 50% per box. eheh and that was just the medic skills too.

I don't have any problem with people charging cause lord I know it cost me an arm and a leg to get my elite CM training

But I always train for free, they just have to travel to me.

i train faction members only, if they feel like tipping thats fine. neutrals and rebels can look elsewhere.

Hi

I allways train for free, no reason not to. I dont see how you can gain anything from charging.

The money you can get is not that great, and think of all the street cred your charatcer get.

When youre maxed in apprentice points i surrender master CM and relearn it(secret FS tech)

But think of it this way, I have alot of friends when I need, I have a few master doc , and wanna be CM where they supply Enhance D packs. The varoius guild get to know you, so the rangers and scout when partying will harvest avian meat etc, you get all the bile for free.I can honestly say that i 'Earned' alot more by not charging. Oh forgot you get rock beetles for free too.

Mraughh what you say is not exactly true, you gave me free training alot and I am rebel sooo, just stregthens my above point.

Since I don't need the app xp, I politely state that while I do not need the app xp, they may very well be others who do need it and if you ask around someone will probably teach you. If you really cannot find someone (I usually do a search myself too) or are impatient or don't want to travel to find them, I will teach you...for 1K. Doesn't matter what skill it is.

I have a second character who was trying to hit master artisan. He's not a fighter or anything and only had artisan skills. Took him almost two weeks to find people to train and he still ended up having some guildmates unlearn survey 4 a couple of times so he could train them back so I know the pain of trying to get app xp and so I hate to take that away from people.

I don't charge. I found it quite frustrating having to spend a crapload on some of my skills because other CM's ignored my requests or were unavailable.

I spent the money, I personally don't care if I get it back (I've gotten tipped nicely regardless), and I know how it feels getting those new skills and get a little bit of pleasure out of watching them 'yay!' lol

I do, however, defer to anyone needing apprentice XP as I'm maxed, and avoid training lower skills whenever possible as there's ALWAYS someone around who needs the xp for those.

i never charged, it's hard enought for the ones skilling up to afford resources to gain experience imho.

I'm 2-2-1-2 CM so far and I've had to pay for every single skill at the trainer.

None of my requests to other CMs to train me have got me so much as a response. Apart from the one guy who told me he had the skill but couldn't train me cos he was busy "makin poison" even though I was standing right in front of him.

Anyone who asks me gets trained for free so they don't have to put up with this nonsense.
