Thread: What is your method in PVP? (Tips, Suggestions wanted!)

Hey guys, new CM here to the field, and I've been going over all the FAQ's and excellent threads that help describe all the components and the CM profession in great detail, however I haven't yet had the oppurtunity to use my CM in PVP yet.

What I would like to know, is the method and protocol everyone uses when in combat.

I've been crafting my own Mind Disease and Poison packs (haven't created area ones yet, not too sure how successful those are compared to single stims), but I will soon be crafting the area heal stims, and of course other disease and poison stims for PVP use.

When you guys engage in combat, what is the first thing you do?

Any tips for a new CM user like myself would be greatly appreciated, I really want to bring a difference to the table in PVP.

If you want to lay it all out, like what you do from beginning to end would be wonderful, and of course, any other tips you can shed light on, such as the main foods/drinks you use, and other suggestions.

Btw I am MCM going for MRM as well.

Thanks

Ummm, well while trying to be as discreet as possible and from the least closest distance I will lay on a good dose or two of strong mind poison then out comes the rifle for head shot 3 until they are incapped then the fatal sniper shot.....end of story. I never use disease in pvp b/c #1 it takes so long to tick and #2 I only have time to get 1 or 2 mind poisons off before I am in trouble due to nerfed throw time. I only use disease in pvp whenI am in a big group and there is a stalemate when no one is really advancing from either side. I will then throw in some disease after my poisons to shake things up.

Oh yeah.....I try to keep my team mates and myself alive after applying poison.

Thanks for the speedy reply and info.

Yea after reading that disease takes 40s per tick, it doesn't really seem like the primary stim to use in a pvp match.

I need to take a look at my poison stims though because for some reason I don't get the feeling that they are potent enough.

I am using high OQ and DR resources, but I am actually buying my own sub-components for now to make some packs I have on-hand in the beginning.

Can't wait to test these babies in live, although I see what you mean by "discreet" because I know CM's are usually public enemy #1.

If you're running solo in PvP, then you will generally have time to throw a couple of poisons (best bet- Mind AoE C Pack & Single Mind C Pack). I used that order because I generally don't run into solo Imperial players very often. Usually two in a group most of the time. Of course, like silmarien stated, as a MR I start laying down /mindshot2, /headshot3.

The battlesgenerally donot last long enough for a disease to tick. However, if you do get two poisons and a disease to stick, chances are the player will get a triple incap, assuming he cannot heal it in time. Like silmarien said, if you're in a group and the battle looks like it may take a few minutes, throw a disease in there.

This could be different for other professions, since we are both Rifleman. I would be interested to learn what others do with CM and their profession in regards to PvP.

Depends on the scale of the battle. For groups, throw an Area C and follow that up with single Cs on targets in order of value. After throwing a couple of poisons, and hopefully not incapped yet, I burstrun away, kiting the crowd trying to kill me. The poison is ticking, my rifle is singing with mindshot3s, and I snipershot them as they fall.

Group Tactics:

Lay out the Area Psn C's then the B's, then stick on the Disease C's then the B's. I usually hang behind my tankers and other better PvPers. Once I get the minds ruined I'll start soloing out the tougher targets and start laying on the Single C's and B's then start shooting with my Jawa Ion.

I stick the Disease's cause I HATE CLONE TEFFERS!! Thus I will make sure that if they die, THEY HAVE NO MIND. Also Cause if those little sob's try to run they usually drop b/c of the psn/dses combo.

Solo Tactics:

I love fighting in the hills, a lot of the hard core pvpers out there don't have terrain nego, thus our terrain nego will give us time to rest. Poison, run, poison again, in and out... stamina, we have it they don't. But it usually ends up being, Single C (stronger Tick) then Area C (2nd strongest tick) then wail on them with the mind shots and by this time i've already stuffed down at least my brandy and I've got the brandy on stand-by and the vercupti as well, cause pvp = mind fights.

PvE Tactics .... lol unless its a NS I don't use psn's, but if I do go after NS's I make sure I bring out ALL the psn's cause its a long fight (elders that is).

If they stay and fight - poison

If they run - poison/disease

and there was much rejoicing...

My template is pure support...master CM/master doc. I stay in the back of the front leaders and STAY MOVING. If the enemy has a CM, I'll start off with an area cure poison/disease and then go into throwing an area disease followed by my spider venom area mind poison C's and B's, and repeated if they are cured. I'll throw a single mind poison C if a single person needs to be targeted individually (pesky jedi knights). If I'm still alive at this point, we generally win the battle...but about half the time, either one of their knights will wack the crap out of me (lol, my only defense to this is to hide behind our own knights), or I'll get dizzy/kd'ed by the melee type. Throw out some area stims and pois/disease cures...rez if needed and regroup.

*EDIT* in case people are wondering why i bother with disease, I will explain. In many cases curing it may be ignored when overlooked by docs covering area poison cures. It also will incap if neglected(and because it takes so long to tick, it is why I apply it first). This is useful for getting runners without sending too many people to chase them down. My disease is also venom enhanced and ticks for 300+ mind wounds making it worth the wait.

Me too tex, why is it I always get shot first? What do ppl have against CM's??? lol

It depends on the fight, start with an area, then singles on opposing docs and jedi. If the healers are down, the weakest area can swing the battle. Make the jedi either die or run off to heal, then clean up whats left. Watch your heavy hitters, keep em healed and their mind up and be fast on the drag if someone goes down. Oh yea and get ready to die.....alot

I guess the hardest part sounds like it's staying alive in order to even throw some poison packs...

I'm thinking if there's 3 or more enemies I may toss an area then target each aggressor individually with my venom/bile packs and see how that plays out. My main worry of course will be to stay alive at least for the first 15 seconds, long enough for me to apply some crucial poisons and maybe a disease if time permits to allow me to eat up their mind, so they can get finished off sooner or later.

Just crafted my first worthy C poison pack last night, had 93 uses and a 650 tick alone, I think that's pretty good for the first shot.

Can't wait to test em in PVP.

I forget what Parwan does tho...
