Thread: MCM/MD or MCM/Master Rifles?

I am currently Master CM/Master Rifles, and I am enjoying it, but due to the hard to find CM resources and supplies on Flurry, the CM part is slow going. I just mastered it about 2 weeks ago anyway.

I am tempted from the previous posts on here to consider going Master Doc/MCM since I do enjoy playing the support character a lot. I have had MDoc with other chars and loved it.

The problem I have is with the upcoming combat balance, I am worried doc buffs will get nerfed and as such my only source of income as a doc/cm will be reduced.

Any suggestions from either template on :

1) Which is more fun to play, MCM/MD or MCM/MR

2) What methods exist to make decent money as MCM/MD

3) Should I be concerned with the combat balance at all, and just play whichever I find more enjoyable atm?

Thanks,

Firstly Combat Rebalance has not got a fixed date. It can be anywhere from before Christmas to well into next year. Do not hold your breath until then. Also, many MD/MCM's tell you its not about the money, you have just enough to pull you through to do your job - to support, as you correctly stated.

1) All opinionated. MCM/MD for Defensive, group, teamwork - based tasks. It can be very rewarding, but also hard to play. MCM/MR, on the other hand, is highly offensive, and is playable solo, with slight difficulties.

It comes down to Group V Solo.

2) Take it from a ex MCM/MDoc - you won't make a lot of cash. The three best ways would be:

- 1: Make Medicaments. This is a amazing money maker, but is difficult to maintain and start.
- 2: Selling your abilities to others. Be a "For Hire" MCM/MDoc, aiding people on hunts and quests.
- 3: Selling buffs. Bad money income (IMO), boring, and you will go insane.

3) Play what is enjoyable for you, at this current moment. The Combat Balance will not (or hopefully not) make anything "useless". If you want to be a Uber FoTMer, then worry, but your consideration of MCM/MDoc leads me not to think you are.

The Combat Balance will be a big change but it won't entirely change aprofession. A CM will still heal, support, and poison. A Pistoleer will still use pistols. If you love a profession, you stick it out for a long time for what it is, not its "uberness".

Just a quick question, what are medicaments? You kind of lost me on that one. However, all the other information was a good help, thanks! I definitely could care less about uber crap, I just wanna have fun with a game that consumes a lot of my free time

Medicaments - fancy name for any medical component. These include:

- ABECs (Advanced Biological Effect Controllers)
- Janta Blood (Replaces ABECs)
- "State Packs" (Intimidate, Poison, Fire, Disease cures)

- "Buff Packs" (Mainly Enhance Ds)
- Stim Bs and Stim Es

Etc.

You'll love MCM/MDoc if you like hunting with your friends mainly. You're a great asset in PvE and PvP, and its quite a challenge to play - considering your role to Heal, Cure, Rez, Heal States, Buff, Revive, Poison, and Disease. Quite a bit to Juggle.

I found Doc/CM to be very boring, I enjoy PVP and with this template you will find yourself frequently cloning because of no defenses, or offensive besides poisons/diseases.

Any suggestions from either template on :

1) Which is more fun to play, MCM/MD or MCM/MR MCM/MR hands down. You can't do much except help other people out as an MCM/MD so that cuts out solo play until you can find someone to tag along with. Master Rifleman opens up alot of potential on what you can and can't do. Plus your MIND poisons compliment headshot3 very nicely whether PvP or PvE.

2) What methods exist to make decent money as MCM/MD Janta missions will earn you more money than anything else.

3) Should I be concerned with the combat balance at all, and just play whichever I find more enjoyable atm? Play and enjoy. If anything gets changed then you can change accordingly. Take in mind though that buffs are being looked at and may be adjusted to the point that single and group healing may be something sought after. Not too mention they've been spouting this combat revamp stuff since the beginning of the year and are just now getting started on it. It might be another 4-6 months before they actually do it..maybe less. Having a sandbox doesn't mean much. They've had several test servers yet all those do are let people make insta-cities and get insta-templates to PvP.

Thanks,

I'd like to see a Master Doc/CM do a Janta Mission in under 10 minutes

It can be done, but you go through armor incredibly fast. The real time drain is the camp itself. I had some success with poisoning the Jantas, then attacking the camp while the poisons ticked. Like I said though, it's a fast way to go through armor.

I love playing a Doc/CM, but it's certainly not for everyone. I make my money selling meds. Buff packs are my biggest money maker, but poisons, diseases and area stims sell fairly well too. I spend most of my game time grouped with friends (that is where my template shines), but can and have done many things solo.

Oops thats was a misunderstanding on my part. Thought I read MCM/MR for sec there. Acyronyms get me all confused like. I guess thats why people get scared when I call in artillery although usually we getcows and jukebox's airlifted to us instead.

Yeah as an MCM/MD you wont be doing much as far as cash goes. Hope you like buffing annoying people all day. Meanwhile I'm killing cavemen and holding the women hostage. "hey baby, I got this nice shiny rock on a string here. I just noticedyour straw and dung hut over there. *wink *wink

Thanks for the opinions guys.

As it turns out, I surveyed my guild as to what they would like me to choose, and they picked CM/Rifles by a landslide. Even though we have only like 4 docs for our guild, and only 1 or 2 of them ever pvp, oh well.

I guess I'll see what fun the CM/Rifles prof can be, and if i get bored, at least i'll have acquired enough money to get the doc/CM business up and running.

By the way, as a side note, how come none of the doc forums give the quickest way to level doc as getting 0/0/0/4 CM and then throwing poisons to complete the doc boxes? While its not an intuitive way to grind doc, its much quicker than the tumbling crap everyone else does. Oh well, no need to tell them i guess

Because you get more experience by getting doctor 0/0/4/0 and buffing people. You can even get paid for it.

I'm MCM/MRM. To make money I run Janta missions in a large solo group. For PvP, the MCM allows me to throw uber poisons. Although I wish I had some doc, so I could states, poison, disease and fire. Master Rifles is great for PVE and PVP. But it's up to you. Do what is fun.
