I'm thinking about getting a Master Doctor/Master Combat Medic build on one of my characters. What sort of limitations and advantages would this give to myself and my group?

I hate doing things alone and would like to know how a dedicated healer would go down within a group.

Your group would love you, but you'll have some real limitations on your ability to do damage (of course). But other than that...there's not much else bad. Pretty good defense and crowd control and of course you can always keep your self healed if you get aggroed. If you are in to support and croup only this is a great template...If you try and play when you are on by yourself...you may get a little bored and frustrated.

/agree You'd end up bored and frustrated, or very good at what you do. Offensively you would have basic pistol abilities (try a nice FWG5), and the CM arsenal at your disposal. The three dots that actually do damage are not to be scoffed at. Three separate ticks of 200+ adds up. Even higher end mobs (lvl 90+) can kiss their regen goodbye. The debuffs are a must have, and the buffs would pay off in the end. Also you would have the ability to thyroid rupture your targets and then adrenaline boost your group. If you don't notice the difference in combat with that applied, you probably aren't logged on :-P. That template would make you an awesome group mate (You'd never fail a rez etc.).

Don't be surprised what you can solo if you had too. You may change your title to Master Kite Flyer but you could get the job done. Your healing eff, jumps to 180 I think. Since the healing system begins to taper off at 160 you won't notice uber results, just more consistency in your healing (a higher average). Good luck in your decision.

Only 2 CM DoT's currently work. And they can do up to 300 damage each per tick with enhancers. At about 10 secs per tick, it's really pitiful though. (60 dps with two 300 DoT's going)

I guess you could say that your limitation is your damage, although, I don't find that a problem. I am a MCM/MDoc with 0004 pistoleer and I love it. With it I can take down fully templated jedi on my own, and I haven't lost a duel in weeks except for "cannot kd recovery while kd."

What I see as the "real" limitation is your lack of area attacks and kds. Also with your CM abilities, you are stuck at pretty close range, so you might have a tendency to get multiple people attacking you because of your proximity.

From the gorup perspective: Make sure everyone has an adrenaline boost. When combat starts, hang back for just a sec, throw a bacta toss then run right in the middle and do a bacta spray, which with your template will give everyone within a 15m radius a 1700-point heal. See what opposing people are doing the most damage and hit them with thyroid rupture and hemorage. If you see an enemy off to the side not taking damage...paralyze. Make sure to go after their doc first and make sure that the group helps you in that effort. Any spare moment, throw a fire, target next person, throw poison, target next person, throw fire, etc. You have a TON of abilites, so just do a medley of everything so that you aren't predictable and it will keep you from being bored or redundant. They enemy will have to worry about you healing your teammates, locking them from combat with paralyze, your dots for damage, your debuffs, and also rezzing/stateclearing ability.

While damage will take an obvious hit, it might not be THAT bad, since most weapons are based on CL on skills. You could still use some high damaging weapons since you'll still be CL 80. That should mitigate some of the problem.

Give it a go, I'd be interested in knowing how this worked out.

Would be good if you used the leftover skill points in a weapon of choice. If you dont you will find yourself standing there watching your enemy regen as fast as you hurt it stuck in the eternal war :0)

Glad to find this thread... am currently working on mCM/mDoc after having played as TKM/mDoc and getting very bored of the minimal ammount of damage TKM does, even in group.

Also, being very interested in group gaming from here on out, and enjoying being the healer/buffer, mCM/mDoc seems like a real fun combination.

I forgot about the fact you can still use weapons with high CL levels... cool to know there is a pistol only certified for mCM's too. :')

Im working on this template now. same with the 0/0/0/4 pistoleer. I only log on my combat alt for group PVE runs and PVP ocassionally. So far it is great. Amazing heals. Good buffs. Dots. A root. A snare. Get rid of all states. Rez guildies. Looks to be an amazing fun "group" template. Solo. Mehh I wouldn't suggest it really. But EVERYBODY wants a good healer on a PVE run.

So far the MCM/MD 0040 Pistols is working great for me. Was with a group on the Avatar, only had to do 2 rez's for the whole time. Keeping the group alive and well is a full time job, not much time left over to worry about doing damage to the enemy, though I did manage to get shots in at the big wookiee. Before picking up Master Doctor.. I was MR/MCM.. it worked well just wanted the buffs and extra healing .. I'm quite satisified with the change. though might switch the pistols around to experiment a little.

I went MCM and MRilfes, and I wasn't happy with it. Rifles you have to be long range, MCM you have to be close. I think Pistols will work the best, since your debuffs and Pistol range are both 35m.

Ive been playing for a few months.. I started out as a crafter, which I still love. Once I found out that when you go FS and unlock, you get a second toon on the server your on, I was highly interested. Than I found out the crafting bonuses you get with the FS Skills and I was sold.

So I set out to get my CL1 Crafting toon combat ready so I could do the things required for glowing in the dark.

What a great ride it has been. I am so glad I made this choice. At first I had decided upon completion, to use both toons for crafting. But after getting experience in the combat side of things, I will now build up my unlock toon into this template I currently have.

After dropping shipwright, I first went master marksman and master rifles. Then master carb, and master pistols, and master smuggler followed. I was working on master scout and planning to go up the ranger side of the house when a guild member who had given me alot of help and instruction told me to try out CM. So I did. I loved it. Being able to heal in group has been great. Whenever I needed to go group xp hunting and no guildmembers were avail, I'd jut go to a tat town and announce master cm looking for medical xp only through heals. I never had a problem finding a group.

Since getting master doc with the buffs, bacta jab-shot etc.. and the heal and the increase to my overall healing efficiency... I must say, I am addicted. Very addicted to this template.

I had my extra sp into pistols for the root but dropped it to get novice artisan and engIV of that template to help with my crafting requirements for fs conversion. I also am going to use look into the med crafting for force crafting conversion, since I think I read somewhere it is 5:1 rather than the general crafting which is 8:1...

In my quest for glowy, this template has helped me and my guildies immensly. Content badges, POI's and quests alike. It has allowed me to survive in places I never thought I would be able to. I love the new term I have added "snipe healing". I sit in a cantina or just run around mos eisly or theed and heal people as i run by them. Some send tells with thanks, others wanting to pay, Just a day in the life of a doc.

When Im at the village, I buff and heal anyone I can. Just recently, I have started to ask people in return for my assistance in keeping them alove on their missions with the sith outside the village, I obtain all the ores dropped. This has netted me three times the amount of these ores that I used to get by going out there which is going to drastically help me in my persuit of crafting during the village phases.

It is going to be sad, when the time comes once I unlock, to drop doc and cm for shipwright and droideng. But this has been my plan from the start. And I couldnt have done it with this much fun without Doc and CM. Besides, i've still got a good 12-16 weeks as a Doc/CM.

At least I know what my second toon will be right from the start. MASTER DOC / MASTER COMBAT MEDIC!!! - heck I might even go the route with him when the time comes to get him glowy and use his FS aimed towards healing etc.. more stuff to investigate.

I'm a little bitter so take this post with a grain of salt, but I'd stay as far away from DE as possible. It is a worthless profession that has seen no improvment in 2 years, and is in fact worse now than day one.

This coming from a DE who started his grind to DE the first day the game went live.
