Thread: COMBAT MEDICS VOTE Changed to ranged support!

The biggest issue right now for CM in the upcoming CU, is the stated pre-reqs of Pistols in the Marksman tree, and Pre-CM in the Medic tree. Yes, we understand that this is a big skill point reduction over the current Master Medic and Ranged Support pre-reqs and that MCM includes a new pistol certification. Nevertheless, many people are expressing a desire to have keep the marksman component prereq as ranged support.
I'd like to compile a vote, so the devs can quickly hear our opinions on the matter.
Please post only once, indicating your preference for a Marksman Prereq of:
(choose one)
(1) PISTOLS
(2) RANGED SUPPORT
(3) NO PREFERENCE
Please do not debate on this thread, and limit any comments to a few sentences. THANKS!

I think it should be ranged support... since in the cu thats required for all the elite ranged profs too

(1) as pistols is a nice prof after CU especially for the crowd controls, and you can still do rifleman or elsewhat anyway.

I don't like being tied to pistols. I prefer ranged support. I would even be okay with ranged support and any one (we get the option) of the other three markman lines.

this argument is pointless because to do pistoleer you STILL need the ranged support tree. the only thing requiring pistols instead of ranged support will help is if you are going to do smuggler. for most templates, requiringpistols will be a waste of skill points for a cm. the only reason i can suppose is that the devs are doing this intentionally because a lot of prereqs were removed from medic and therefore allow cm's to be able to master 3 elite proffesions (which they stillcan do,but one of them has to be pistoleer).

While more flexibility is nice the devs did open up the option to master any other eliete combat profession to go with CM.
CMs can't master 3 elite professions. They can go MCM, MPistoleer, MMarksmen or MMedic but the last two aren't elite.

2 In the past we had to master medic and then CM which gave us enough points to learn ANY ranged profession. Now if we master medic we only have enough points left over to master pistols. Range support lets us have the more flexibility in which weapons we want to choose. Add to the fact that some of us are Combat Medics first and "insert profession here" second. +20 bio-suppression and +20 heal efficiency help alot.
Making the healing efficiency tree would handle the SP cost issues fairly well. Not too mention that its gives us "healing effciency" which our CM pre-req. does not.....which is just weird.

2) Ranged Support. Ok, Combat XP is a pain to grind. But it gives higher flexibility and I like not feeling "enticed" towards a certain template.
