Hey all. Long time reader, first time poster. I am novice CM, novice Pistoleer, with one tree in BH. I plan on mastering the first two, and was wondering what type of armor would be the most beneficial to my health. If this is the wrong area for this post, just flame me mercilessly and point me in the right direction please. Thank you and thank goodness that I am finally able to post.

Don't worry Kal, you posted in the right place. If I'm not mistaken, you should be able to choose from all three types with that template, (assuming pistoleer is recon and I think it is). The answer depends on what you like to do. For me, I'm a Master Rifleman (recon) and Master CM and all my other points tied in to basic scout and surveying skills. I have no need for xp and belong to a guild that focuses on helping new players grind their skills. So I do a TON of large group lair missions and get hit with a lot of kinetic. My recon is useless for that, so I had a battle beefed up with some kinetic layers for those days. You can go ahead and get assault but without mastering BH...a kinetic layered battle may still be better for you.

I also have a roleplaying buddy whose a master commando/master smuggler and we like to attack rebel bases and do a little PvP. With this, get the best recon you can find for the energy protection. Also, as stated before, armor isn't as important as it once was. If adifferential exists between the levels it won't matter and it's best to not wear armor at all, because how fast the condition wears post-CU. For the same level a good non-layered recon armor (energy resists at 7000) still blocks about 50% and is relatively affordable (600K about on bloodfin).

Hope that helps!

Have you changed the combat spam to verbose where it shows armor absorption? It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.

i was going to make the point about changing the combat spam so you could see your armor working, but someone already did that

tell you what, go hunting with me on Dath some time. i will wear my 7k + resist Rebel Assault Armor, and you wear no armor at all. we will go and hunt Enraged Rancor (CL 80) and just let them bang away at us...let's see who lasts longer, me WITH my armor, or you WITHOUT

One last thing Kal, You probably wont find a quad layered kinetic armor on the bazaar. The resists are on a diminishing return scale and it costs an armorsmith a lot more resources to do a layered armor with not a equivalent amount increase in return. You may be able to find a quad layered primus armor (jumps up both energy and kinetic protection just by a lesser amount) and a quad energy layer recon suit (made mostly for jedi hunting). If you know an armorsmith, he might custom order the quad kinetic for you, but your best bet would just be an unlayered battle with stats as close to 6500 across the board as youcan find.

Armor does help..it does make a difference. Just for melee attacks it doesn't.

I tried it with out armor in clothing, then I did it with. I noticed nothing for melee attacks but when it comes down to getting hit with a weapon it does obsorb some of the damage.

Though it should do alot more then what its doing.

I'm currently on the mission to get clone armor, and i'm a CM. I'm going to complete the mission regardless, but I want to know if I will be able to wear the armor once i get it. Its my understanding that this armor type is biofit, and once you try to put it on, in can no longer be used by anyone else. So, I don't want to ruin a perfectly good set of armor by trying to try it on and then not be able to wear it. I'm a rifleman/CM if that makes any difference. Thanks,

The clone armor is battle armor and yes, a combat medic is certed to wear it. Enjoy!
